Last summer, a few months before my daughters’ 11th birthday, we were attending a family gathering at our parish. There were several children’s activities, which included designing your own bag to carry your Bible. My daughter chose to design hers based on Mary, which included a drawing of her pierced heart. As I watched her, I noticed that she looked up with an expression of surprise and awe. At first I thought that perhaps she saw an old friend or something. I turned and saw no one in particular that would be of any interest. She then told me, “Mom! I saw Mary! I really saw her! She was so beautiful, and there was a bright light shining through the ceiling and all around her!” I asked where she appeared and if she said anything. My daughter said that she was just a few feet behind me, and that she didn’t speak, but smiled at her with her arms open. I asked if she wore a crown and she said yes, a gold one. She described her long, wavy brown hair and blue eyes. My daughter is not one to make things like this up. I should mention that she also has memories of her existence before her birth into this world, including seeing me and Jesus Himself, Whom she says kissed her cheek before she, “went in mommy’s tummy”. I would love to share this with our priest and others, but I don’t want people to think that she’s crazy. Like I said, she is not the type to make this stuff up. She also holds no pride in herself for having these gifts. Has anyone here had any similar experiences?
