hey luke 1:48! this is a great chance to love someone! 🙂

i know mean ladies are hard to love. i have a hard time myself sometimes, especially when they’re trying to tell me what i believe. but you KNOW what you believe! 🙂 so just love the mean lady, and as presterjohn says, maybe you’ll find out that she’s not so mean after all.

we all get a little cranky sometimes. 🙂

God bless you. you gave me a great chuckle today.
Thanks for the advice, I will try. 😃 Peace out!

Perhaps you could try to drum up or whatever to have a Marian procession through the main streets of your town, and up and down Mean Lady’s street.

Well, that may provoke her to anger.

Ok, that was a joke, and being Reformed maybe it was uncouth, but I meant nothing negative towards you or the RCC by it.

Really though, there is a book called “True Devotion to Mary” that is written by St. Louis de Monfort. That may be a good book for you, and maybe it could answer some concerns that your friend has. Amazon has it for $5 - $10. My Catholic friend got me a copy for a dollar (yes $1) at an SSPX church.

I mean, if I were Catholic, that may be what I would suggest. Maybe.

She probably won’t understand this but tell her that we do not offer Mary the “latria” that is due to God alone…but just “hyperdulia”, which is nothing more than great reverence & honor. NO Catholic ever WORSHIPS the Blessed Virgin.

The tracts on this site will help & they can be printed so you can give that darling mean lady a copy.

In the words of his holiness JP II “Be not afraid”. I gave a guy who jumped my case about being Catholic a tract from OSV to answer some of his questions…a year & a half later…he is studying to enter the Catholic Church. It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to help us win souls…all we can do is LIVE it, offer answers in Charity, & be ready to reap the harvest.

Luke1:48:
Grrrrrrrr… Mrs. Mean Lady=anti-christ.
I know who your talking about. I run into Mrs. Mean Lady=anti-christ all the time :rotfl: . Acctually I run into someone quiet similar that insists that say we worship Mary. I am trying to find a quote(s) from something (anything) to beat some sense into before he leads people astray with his umm… bad-word lies (which is what he is trying to do lead people astray).

Luke1:48:
There’s this really mean Lady in our neighborhood who is telling my family that we whorship Mary. Can anyone help, so I can put Mrs. Mean Lady in her place?
Just be nice and smile and let her know that you don’ t wish to argue. Tell her that you honour Mary as “most blessed among women” knowing that she shares eternity with her son. And thank her for caring about you…

Phil

Sell everything you have and give her all the money,

cut her grass and do all her housework everyday for 20 years,
Want to be a saint? Do this! ^

I love this book, but it is a bit hard for some people to read (I know it was for my dad, and my mom especially, though now they love the book.), there are easier, less devotional books to read out there than this one (though it is one of my favorites)…this one might actually make her think that you do worship Mary - unless she has the prudence to finish reading it first.

Br. Rich SFO:
Invite 50 friends over with lighted candles to stand around the statue on the evening of December 8th in prayer. That will shut her up! She will porbably pack up and move out of the neighborhood!
Oh great. Now everyone at work is watching me giggle.

Someone on an old thread said that when people said things like “You worship Mary,” he would respond: “Why are you bearing false witness?” Deliciously evil, of course, but I expect it could be quite effective.

A good comparison is the Bible. You could respond saying that your veneration of Mary is similar to the Protestant veneration of the scriptures. They preach from it; they study it; they call it Holy; they sing songs about it… One who didn’t understand their practices might say, “Hey! They’re worshipping the Bible!” But they’re not. Veneration of the Scriptures bring glory to God, because God gave them to us for “doctrine, reproof…” Veneration of Mary brings glory to God, because God gave her to us as a mother.
