Masculine pronoun in the responses

And just think of the possibilities – if the people weren’t assigned any responses at all, then they couldn’t possibly screw them up!
Uh, I am referring to the Latin OF, such as has occurred at a particular parish in Portland, OR.
The people did have assigned responses just like they did in the Missa Recitata of the EF Mass.

Then of course you know that the Latin does not, by and large, use (at least apparently-) gender-specific terms like “for us men” – and that precious few of the congregants have sufficient Latin to rework their responses on the fly anyway. I guess we find our blessings where we can.

BTW, I don’t remember any missae recitatae at Trent . . . only after the rise of Modernism and Communism in the 1920s and 30s. Yikes! Modernism!

I suppose it depends on what you mean by the term “by and large”. I can give you numerous examples where it does in the Mass itself.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc. You know better than that.
Modernism is as real as Communism. Read what the popes have to say about it and look at what is going on around you.

From my experience, the vast majority of educated women in my parish have no problem with the use of horizontal terms like “mankind” or masculine references concerning God the Father. Here, everything is pronounced exactly as written in the book. As one woman explained to a friend of mine who, at his first Mass, used “inclusive” language, "When you use inclusive terms, you insult the intelligence of women."
👍
I think so, too, but there are intelligent women who would stone me for saying it!
Not me, either!! 😃
I wonder how many of those women would go in a pen with a “Man eating” tiger, thinking that it would not apply to women
Oy, that is bad, but too funny!! (and sad to say, probably true to some extent:o)

“Inclusive language” is a HUGE problem in my diocese.

Even though I, at one time, would have been considered what
most here at CAF would consider a “progressive, rageing liberal, heterodox, border-lining on heretic- Catholic”:p,
“inclusive language” is something I have always had a problem with.

Jesus called God, Father, who am I to question?🤷

Genesis 1:25
*God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; **male and female he created them. ***:getholy:

I don’t need any more proof than that!
