I’m want to know if there is a bible out there in English or Spanish that translates the old testament text in both Hebrew and Greek variants. Thanks in advance:D

The RSV gives variants. Here are some translations litteralchristianlibrary.wetpaint.com/page/Bibles

Check out the NETS translation on that link, it is the newest Septuagint translation. I am a Septuagint man myself, so if you are interested in it I may be able to help you. Plus on that link the Aramaic Peshitta in English.

By the way, I recommend that you get the “Dead Sea Scrolls Bible.” It is a translation of the OT from the Dead Scrolls Bible manuscripts. It is very good! books.google.com/books?id=E7SxJgAACAAJ&dq=dead+sea+scrolls+bible&as_brr=0

Do you own a copy of the DSS Bible? I’m interested but am worried that it might not be a very professional and/or faithful translation. Can you shed some more info on this ?

Yes, I have had it for about 3 years. It is very good! It is also designed for anyone to use, you don’t need a PHD to find it useful. The translation is very faithful, and it has a fairly good critical apparatus that will give you the variants to the MT and the Septuagint as well as other DSS manuscripts. The only downfall that I find with the book is that it does not provide headings at the top of the pages for each page to let you know what book of the Bible you are in, so you need to go to the table of contents to find the page number for what book of the Bible you are searching for.

The introduction is very informative about the DSS. This is one of the best bargains out there! You can find it on Amazon fairly cheap, $8.99 used.

As far as being professional, it is very much so. Two DSS scholars (Abegg and Ulrich) that I am very familar with are 2 of the 3 that put it together. They have done much for the scholarship of the DSS.

One good resource for this that hasn’t been mentioned is the NET translation with it’s numerous footnotes from the translators.

Now that the Church finally has an official Catechism again, might the next task be to translate an officially sanctioned Bible above all the rest?
