Gold vestments may be used for extremely solemn feasts; as in Easter, Christ the King, Christmas. Our EF parish has also used it for Pontifical Solemn High Masses.

Then the local OF parish has used a gold Gothic chasuble for Christ the King.

So Rose is optionaly? Because in chatting with various friends from all over, some Priests wore Rose Vestments this past Sunday and others wore purple. We all found that curious.

Yes, rose coloured vestments are optional. They’re only worn twice per year: third Sunday of Advent and fourth Sunday in Lent. For parishes that don’t have a set of rose vestments it’s probably too expensive to purchase a set that will be worn on only two days per year.

If rose is not used, the seasonal colour of violet is to be used.

Thanks for the quick answer Matthew! That’s what we all thought but it’s good to know! 🙂
