Same thing for my parish.ideally it should be after the final blessing. but truth is, who’d be left in the church at that time? most people have left even before the priest have left the altar

Same here!Oh my gosh, I love announcements!
They’re always about 5 - 10 minutes, I don’t think that’s too long, and it’s how I really know what’s going on in the parish. Yes, MOST of the same stuff is in the bulletin (not all) but sometimes the bulletin doesn’t get read until days later, and by then I missed half the events!
Besides, I’ll be making announcements regarding the upcoming VBS, which I’ll be running, so you betchya I like announcements! (Well, I like them if it gets me participants and volunteers!!!)
Actually, according to the Roman Missal, the announcements should be made after the post-Communion prayer, and, these should be brief. At my church, the announcements are done during the collection. They never take more than two minutes and then the choir starts to sing. It seems like a good time to get them.![]()
Oh how I hate the endless thank-yous! A ‘thanks to Susie and everyone else who helped make the sanctuary beautiful’ is quite enough. This isnt the oscars people. If you don’t mention that I, specifically, watered the plants (or whatever) I promise my feelings won’t get hurt. Our newest pastor of one year has done away with the endless “thank yous” following Christmas and Easter Masses, thank goodness. But he is big on bulletins and announcements after Mass. A minute of announcements just seems like 5 minutes, I think. The bulletin is packed every week with an additional 3 to 7 fliers. ( I do think we could save money by not using all of the paper.) But our pastor thinks it is important. Some people love to read everything in the bulletin, some won’t even take one home.
same with my parish … before mass beginsOur parish has the announcements before mass begins, and its usually only last minute stuff that didn’t make the bulletin deadline for that week.
But they are so important.
when I did mass at one church I would have to bring my pet rat in her cage on days she was at the vet. so I left her in the office on the desk. but people would go into the office and feed her junk food which was no good for her. I had to have a notice in the bulletin just to get people to stop feeding her. she shot up from a svelte 11 ozs to a huge 2 lbs just over christmas.
And you can recycle the paper by using them in the cage. But they are so important.

nah, she prefers tv to printed matter. And you can recycle the paper by using them in the cage.![]()
So you put her on the TV with no paper under her?nah, she prefers tv to printed matter.
My rat liked both: watching TV while curled up on DH’s chest & sitting on the paper to prevent me from turning the pages while looking at me with a ‘now whatcha gonna do?’ expression.nah, she prefers tv to printed matter.
she likes the cartoon network. My rat liked both: watching TV while curled up on DH’s chest & sitting on the paper to prevent me from turning the pages while looking at me with a ‘now whatcha gonna do?’ expression.
Nobody ever said, convincingly, that rats are dumb.she likes the cartoon network.
I bought a rat proof cage for her once, took her 3 weeks to figure out how to open it. one day I get up and she is on the sofa eatting a donut and watching tv. a freind gave me a roomba last year, first she would chase it like a rat out of heck, then she caught it and learned to ride it. rat on a roomba, mmm, mmm, good.
What do you do about things that come up after the bulletin has been sent to the printers (usually on Wednesday mornings), but before Sunday Mass? For example, repairs to water damage in the library after Thursday’s storm means that the Bible Study will be meeting in the Rectory this week, and stuff like that?Announcements are totally unnecessary if they are in the bulletin. Everyone knows you are supposed to read them while the priest is preaching the homily!![]()
