Mass at a protestant church?

hi all–

as this is my first post here, just want to say a quick hello to everyone…ok, here’s my question…

The church I belong to is only a couple of years old and is in the process of building a permanent church. In the meantime, Sunday Mass is being held in a secular (albeit private) elementary school gym and daily Mass is held at a nearby protestant church ( I believe it is methodist but am not sure). Is this permisable? It seems very strange to attend Mass in such non-Catholic enviroments. thanks for any responses.
 
It is permissible provided that the bishop has given his approval to this arrangement.
 
Who knows, maybe someone from that church will stumble into the Catholic Mass providing a great opportunity for evangelization. Though I think the hosting church’s hospitality might run out if people start leaving.😃
 
I belonged to a new parish without their own church for a while that attended Mass in a theater at the local community college.
 
My former parish (I have since moved) held Mass at an Episcopal church.

The differences are not that great, same vestments, the Episcopalians used incense a lot more, and altar chimes etc.

We even had two seperate tabernacles side by side for the Blessed Sacrament.

Since that time the Catholic parish has built thier own church, but they still have good relations with the Episcopalians.
 
Several decades ago, I attended an Episcopal College with a beautiful Gothic Chapel. I recently heard that there are no longer enough Episcopalians attending Sunday services to justify the use of the Chapel so they use the grotto chapel and the main Chapel is used for a Catholic mass.
 
I went to World Youth Day in Denver, CO in 1993 with the Archdiocese of Boston. On one of the days we were there, the Priests of the Archdiocese travelling with the group celebrated Mass for us in a Methodist church. I believe it was held there because of the shear numbers of Catholics in Denver at the time. All of the groups couldn’t use Catholic Churches for “private” Masses.
