Well I for one, was greatly surprised, last night I served at a EF Midnight Low Mass (actually celebrated at 9pm), in which there was about 120-140 in the congregation (some very young families, and even some people around my age (I’m 19)), last year we only had about 40.
However my greatest surprise came this morning at the 10:30am day time Mass, I went to the Oratory in my diocese to serve at a EF Solemn High Mass (This has become there regular Mass now, 10:30 every Sunday the Birmingham Oratory celebrates a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form), as we left the sacristy for the Asperges me, I was blwon away, the Birmingham Oratory is not a small Church (I would guess the seating capacity to be around 800-900) but it was full, no seats left, standing room only, and even that was at a push! even the Celebrant was lost for words, at the distribution of Communion, one Priest actually had to begin breaking hosts, as he was running low compared to how many were in line for Communion!
now I know this Mass may well have been swelled up a little by the Christmas & Easter crowd, but for a Extraordinary form Mass, it was incredible!
