How was your parish’s attendance for today’s solemnity?

I went to the 8:30 Mass this morning to serve, and it was a sparse crowd, as expected. I had to stick around for the 11:00 a.m. Mass just in case they needed a server, and the crowd was better then.

We went to the vigil last night and stayed for adoration after (which lasted until midnight, but we didn’t stay that long.) I wasn’t expecting a huge crowd and there wasn’t one. 😛

We only had one Mass which was today at 10:00am. There were about the same number of people that you would see at a 9:00am Sunday Mass.

Not bad since I am in the Province of Los Angeles where attending Mass today was not obligatory.

I am part of a tri-parish area, and my pastor didn’t schedule a Mass for my parish. I can’t drive, and I walk to Mass. So, I wasn’t able to attend.

I’d say there were about half as many people as would attend a Sunday mass. That is considerably better than the number who attended the All Saints Day mass.

Didn’t go. There was a large enough snowfall that my parents wouldn’t drive anywhere today and that it seemed unfeasible to walk halfway across town.

As for All Saints’ Day, I was still at college for that one, and Mass attendance was just as high as on a Sunday.

EDIT: Oh, but for the record, I actually wanted to go.

That’s really a shame. I likewise can’t drive (just never could get good enough at it to even try a driving test) and walk to mass and would have been in the same situation. My parish, and the other with which it is associated (the third was closed a few years ago, back when there had been a resident priest to share between them) does not have a priest assigned to it and offers confession only twice a year, but they do make sure to have at least one mass on every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation. Priests drive in from long distances, often through the bad weather of Upstate New York, to make sure that parishioners aren’t instead expected to do the traveling themselves.

I intended to go, and was looking forward to it, but all 3 of us in my house came down with a strong case of the flu.

I’ve had it for 4 days. Did nothing New Year’s Eve. Woke up this morning with a 101.5 fever. I figure its better not to attend in such a case.

Vigil mass last night. Pretty busy, but then I live in one of the better dioceses in the USA.

Was pleasantly surprised as the attendance at the 8:30 am service was three times as large as expected ! A blessing for all.

Vigil last night…got to be a reader (2nd reading) lots of people, Anglo & Spanish although it was not a bi-lingual Mass. They had a 10 AM and I suspect it was busy…many of our parishioners are older folks and they don’t drive at night. Choir sang for both.

My parish had 3 masses. The 10 am wasn’t too full.

Apparently they had a 12 midnight mass on NYE which was preceded by an hour of adoration from 11 -12. I found this out today. They had never put it in the bulletin or mentioned it at mass last week, or else I would have gone. I don’t know how full it was, but I think that was a nice idea. The priest did say that right before the start of mass, they could hear a whole bunch of New Years fireworks. Not a bad way to ring in the new year!

You are wise to stay home and rest! Prayers you and yours are all well soon!

We had a good Sunday sized crowd at the 12:30 mass today.

We had a Holy Hour at 11PM last night, ending with the solemn singing of the Te Deum (plenary indulgence) just before midnight, then the solemn singing of the Veni, Creator Spiritus at midnight (another plenary indulgence), followed by High Mass. Good crowd for that. Low Masses at 9AM OK crowd, Noon Mass saw a Sunday-sized crowd.

It was surprisingly good attendance in our parish given that its not a holly day of obligation in my country. It was almost as full as it is on a regular Sunday.
To be honest, I thought it would’ve been just 10-50 people due to New Year’s Eve hangover, but found myself happily surprised walking into a full church:)

Reading all the replies is so uplifting. 👍

The Holy Spirit is moving and the people are responding. Praise to You Lord Jesus.

I would have said Christmas is the only holly day of obligation, though since it is the Octave of Christmas as well I can see counting Solemnity of Mary Mother of God too. 😉

The parish I’m visiting had the same number of Masses for Mary, Mother of God as they do on Sunday (they had double that for Christmas). I went to the same Mass I’ve attended on Dec. 22 & 29 (the main Mass, with choir) and I figure there were about 2/3 what I saw there on the last two Sundays.
