Hi, I’m sorry if there is a very obvious answer to this, but how do people know which page to look at in the mass book for the daily readings? I understand there is “1st Sunday of Advent” for example but for tomorrow 22.01.12 which day would I be looking at?

Thank you in advance.

22 Jan is the third Sunday in Ordinary Time, which runs through to Lent. Ordinary time then picks up again after Pentecost and then runs through to Advent.

Your Missal is divided up into roughly three different parts.
  • You have the part you’ve discovered which is; Advent, Christmas, Lent, etc.
  • Then there is a section which is the Order of the Mass, that is a constant every Mass these parts are the same.
  • The third part is Ordinary Time and it is numbered out by First Sunday Ordinary Time, Second Sunday Ordinary Time, Third Sunday Ordinary Time and so on.
You will also notice different letters A, B, C We are currently in year “B”
Every three years the Missal starts over.

I hope this was somewhat helpful.
