Our Diocese has a constantly updated list of on line masses, devotions, etc. Check and see what your local Diocese has.

You can always watch CatholicTV.org

Fr. Hezekias & Fr. David Anderson suggested that everyone do the Liturgy of the Hours.
I’ve been praying the LOTH for nearly 20 years, so suppose it isn’t something “extra” for me, but I also do read the Sunday Mass readings as well.

It is a great suggestion though, and a great opportunity for those unfamiliar to get acquainted with it,

I’ve tried the streaming Mass thing. to me it was like saying i participated in a football game just because i watched one on tv. going with more prayer time personally.

My parish is live streaming. I watched our Pre Sanctified Liturgy today.
I attended our parish’s last Presanctified Liturgy last night. The order to suspend all public liturgies came as we were gathered at the church, 10 minutes before the liturgy was to begin. We decided to pray one last time because we were expecting fewer than 10 people, as usual. We were surprised when an additional 15 people showed up after the liturgy had begun. It was good to pray as a parish one last time.

Today my family plans to join the Holy Father in a rosary. Beyond that, we don’t know how we’re going to handle this. Watching Mass or Divine Liturgy doesn’t seem to be particularly useful with a bunch of little ones. I think we’ll probably pray an abbreviated Liturgy of the Hours and maybe the older ones will watch a Divine Liturgy on TV. Since the Divine Liturgy is such a rich sensory experience, I’m sure it will feel inadequate, as so it is. But it is what we have for now.

If Mass is available it’s an entirely different situation. When they are all closed, all the bishops I know of are saying make an Act of Spiritual Communion (that prayer) and watch Mass if you can. Ours is also recommending the rosary and LOTH.

I believe any prayer to God is valid!

that’s how I feel about the rosary. our bishop is recommending it but I pray it daily already so I’ve upped it to the 15 decades… I just think it’s good if we can do something extra during this time when we can’t attend Mass. thanks

More prayer time is good. If Mass was available as usual and you watched it on tv/online, then, sure, it might be like the football game comparison. But, the point here is Mass is not available! I think we are blessed to have the technology during this time. In the 1918 plague, there was no watching your priest celebrate private Mass in real time with others doing the same.

Thanks for doing this! I’m sure it will be fantastic! The local parish I’m watching has the priest saying Mass in the empty church, but you’d never know it.

I did (“attended”?) Fr. Baron’s Word on Fire Mass at 7:15 CT this morning. Stood, knelt, sat as usual. They show the Spiritual Communion prayer at communion time. I hope to do this every day. Also, my parish moved Adoration from the small chapel into the large church, so I stopped there after work. Still going to fulfill my Lenten practice of a daily plenary indulgence for a soul in Purgatory, hoping God will give it to me despite not being able to receive the Eucharist.

Our parish is streaming Mass. I set up the ol Kindle in our prayer room and 4 chairs. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Reading St John of the Cross and the Gospels and memorizing Bible passages. All the parish Church Lenten worship and activities are cancelled and I’m not interested in EWTN, or online or TV Masses, or listening to any sermons or priests, or thinking about any Sacraments.

Apart from watching online Masses, I’m researching my family history.

this is awesome! thanks for posting this pic. do you have multiple prayer rooms?

having posted all those positives about streaming… I was doing so today and about a sentence or two into the gospel reading when I was really getting into it, the stream froze up! Technology is wonderful, when it works…

*Walking down the street waving at others, praying for them and my neigborhood when I do some short burts of exercising, which is still allowed

*Texting all my neighbors or calling them on the phone to check in and see how they are doing and if they need anything

*Calling friends and praying live over the phone together

*Making batches of home made food and offering it up as well as sandwiches to anyone who has need

*Making home made face mask(s)

*Making home made hand sanitizer

*Making own bottles of disinfectant

*Sharing with anyone as needed

IDK, but is this “willing the good of another?”

God bless you.

I’m on a satellite Internet connection which is already not great in the best of times due to high latency and capacity throttling during busy times. I noticed that since most people are now at home, there have been some bandwidth issues, freezes and slowdowns. I can tether to my cell phone as back up but I only have 12 GB of data on my plan so I only use that if I really need to. I can’t stream on it. On the bright side my satellite ISP said there would be no data overage charges if I go over my 100 GB allocation.

So if I want to stream something or watch a movie at 3 am…

Liturgy of the Hours is the best thing ever in these times. We are still participating in real-time in the public liturgy of the Church. Without it I’m sure I’d be a basket case by now. I’m in self-isolation on account of being diabetic and 61. I’m lucky in that I know Gregorian chant and can chant the hours.
