Mass Commemorations in the Ordinary Form

Lately, I’ve noticed priests doing commemorations during the Collect or Opening Prayer in the Ordinary Form of the Mass. By that, I mean they do two prayers at the start of Mass with one conclusion (for example during a Saturday Night Mass, Sunday prayer with commemoration of St. Dominic).

Now I know such a practice is permitted in the Extraordinary Form (like Prayer for Christmas and commemoration of St. Anastasia). As for the Novus Ordo, I don’t really know. Many tell me it is not. What does Rome or the GIRM say? Also, has anyone else seen this happen?
 
That is awesome! I believe I read in the Missale Romanum(Paul VI), however that this is not allowed, unfortunately, this traditional move may border on illicitness of the Mass, though the validity is NOT touched and the liturgy remains true and valid.
 
If reading an extra collect or two is a violation of the rubrics, it’s not as serious as many we’ve heard described here.
