Mass--does anyone else feel like this?

One more thing, to all the people on this thread. Mass is the time when we encounter Jesus, Truly Present. Yes, it’s pleasant when we are sitting with our big family or with a group of friends. But many people in the Scriptures encountered Jesus when they were all alone (e.g., St. Paul). The Lord Jesus should eclipse all else and attract our undivided attention at Mass. When He is present, all else fades.

Hi Cat, I totally agree with this. I cry during the Eucharistic prayer and after receiving Him, who gives us the grace to become more like Him. I find it helps me to keep my eyes closed during most of the mass so I keep focused on His presence, I love how all the angels and saints are there worshiping with us too. The mass is truly heaven come down to earth. Awesome!

For me, I’m bummed because I am too old for the YAM at my church, and too young for the Golden Agers! (I guess I need a “Middle-aged Catholics” group! )

Elizabeth,

I feel the same way. Our parish has a young adult ministry group, an older group (60 plus) and a bible study group for young families. I don’t know about your parish but the 40 and 50 something crowd is almost non-existent at my parish. I suppose many are lapsed Catholics like I was just a few years ago. My favorite work for the Church now is sharing my beautiful faith to lapsed Catholics as well as anyone who is interested.🙂

I converted when I was 38 and had young children that made it difficult to go out on activities with the young adult group. (Weird, because I would think that would be a consideration for this group - even if it there might be a lot of singles in it.) Anyway, there are groups for anyone that are prayer groups, but nothing specifically for the 40 and 50 somethings. I could probably find something to join, but I do feel like this age group is a bit left out!
