So apparently my parents want to go to the beach tomorrow with some family members. That’s a great thing until it gets to the point where I cant get to a mass. We have to leave so early that I won’t be able to get to any masses. I had just gotten into the state of grace today and now I’m about to lose it over some beach trip 😦

I don’t know what to do, they won’t let me go and I’m sure I’ll be sinning

Do you have any reasonable way to go to mass and then go to the beach? If not, and your parents won’t let you go, and you’re dependent on them, I don’t think you have to worry about it being a mortal sin at all. Speak with a priest if you have a concern, but you don’t seem to have deliberate consent here.

Mass on Saturday evening fulfills the Sunday obligation.

You desire to go to Mass, but your parent’s plans make it impossible for you. If that is what you mean, then it is not your fault. Mention that to your priest and he will advise you.

I am not dependent on getting to mass, but they are telling me I have to miss mass and go to the beach with them.

Saturday unfortunately already happened

Are you a minor? Or living with them?

How old are you? If you’re a minor living at home, you’re kinda stuck. But if you desire to attend Mass but can’t due to reasons outside your control, you’re not sinning.

As already mentioned, talk to your Priest about this. Obey your parents and go with them to the beach. When you talk with you Priest, ask his advice on how to handle these situations. This probably won’t be the last time it will happen.

Positive laws (such as the obligation to attend Mass on each and every Sunday) generally don’t oblige under serious inconvenience. If it’s the case that disobeying your parents and going to Mass would cause you serious harm, then you are not obligated. It’s the same as if a blizzard made going to Mass unsafe.

Do you have a way to speak to your priest?

IF his parents allow it. It sounds like the OP is a minor and dependent on his parents. The decision may not be his to make.

OP, you can check masstimes.org to see if there are churches nearby with Mass times that might work. But if your parents don’t allow you to go, there’s no blame on your part.

You’re under their authority. Even if there’s another car you’ve been using, it’s probably in their name, right (not that it matters, you’re still a minor). I would not fret about committing a mortal sin this weekend. Discuss it further with a priest later.

You won’t be sinning in obeying your parents, dear. You are still under their authority and need to follow their rules.

I understand, however, that it will be painful for you to be missing mass on a Sunday. Maybe wake up a little early, read and meditate on the readings, or pray the Office of Readings or Morning prayer.

And trust in God – who knows but He might still open a door for you to attend mass.

Be at peace, dear one. Be obedient and joyful – do what you can to make your family’s outing the best day it can be – and be at peace.

Is this allowed? As in, does God allow this in my circumstances?
