I understand that we don’t necessarily need to conform with our parents beliefs, but if you are still living in their home (which I’m not certain you are), you would certainly be bound to respect them with your behavior, and attending the services of another religion could be seen as disrespectful in such a case, especially if your father asked you not to.
But I am quite happy to hear that he is open to your exploring your spirituality outside his faith beliefs and that you have had the experience of feeling God in the Catholic Church. You have been added to my prayers.

I’m glad you’ve been open with him and that he gives his blessing.Yes. And when I told him I was going back this Sunday, his words were, “Do whatever you need to do.”
Also, my mother’s side of the family is Catholic. She became a Methodist when she married my father.
However, even if he didn’t like it, I don’t know if I would stop going. I think there are times to honor your parents, but I don’t think conforming to their beliefs is one of the instances.
