I had an interesting experience last night. I’m in Canada at the moment visiting a friend and picking up a puppy. She’s Jewish, but one of her good friends is Catholic so I was able to go with her to Mass last night for the Vigil Mass. It’s a tiny church (I’m in the middle of nowhere) and the priest serves four parishes (so, they have a shortage here like we do in the US). Anyway, the friend I went to Mass with is from Quebec and we compared notes a bit, finding some of the same problems of small parishes, large parishes, old and young…I told her I went to the TLM back home and she was surprised, she’s not heard of a parish that does that.
There was a pipe organ, but no organist
People walking to Mass (those that live in the town) in snow in -7C weather is inspiring though, nothing stops them from coming! The priest didn’t miss a beat when I knelt and received Communion on the tongue, he even smiled a little.
Just out of curiosity are there EF Masses here in Canada?
