I recently got in a debate/arguement over the state of liturgy in Latin America. While I have not been to mass in Latin America, I have heard from many people that it is a bit more reverent in Mexico than it is in the US. Many progressive Catholics want to push the Charismatic style of worship on the Spanish speaking population in the US.
That is what I have heard about masses in Mexico from people who have been there and lived there. For one, altar girls are rare there, surprisingly, guitar is not used that often for masses in Mexico, communion is usually under one species, and often EMHCs are not employed, and ad libs with the missal are far less common there. I have even heard that women in some parts of Mexico wear veils still.
Now does this gel with the way mass is in other parts of Latin Anmerica?
