So, I’m moving from Riverside to Irvine for law school (Go Anteaters!), and so I ask, where’s the nearest parish to UCI? Is there a Newman Center? Aside from St. Thomas More and the Mission, are there any nearby EF Masses?

St. John Neumann is lovely and has a great clergy. No EF.

Sunday at 6:00 and 8:00 am at the Serra Chapel at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. The small chapel off the side street, built in 1776, has a latin mass.

For Gregorian Chant and some other things you might visit the Norbertine Abbey, St. Michael’s.

Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, in common parlance the Traditional Latin Mass. Which is a bit of a misnomer, as the more common Ordinary Form can be and is celebrated in Latin.

Do not worry, an EF is merely a bonus. The campus services seem great, but the problem is they do not seem to have regular confessions. St. Thomas seems good, but it seems clear across the City proper (the University is its own little enclave, and by rights could be a town in itself). Problem is lack of reliable access to an automobile. I guess I ought to look at the diocesan website, though (I know of St Thomas because Fr. Horn from the Norbertines once said Mass there. :))

Yup, St. John the Baptist at 12:30 on Sundays. Also St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado has EF masses
