So I’ve posted on here before about how there isn’t a daily TLM anywhere in the Washington D.C. area, but does anyone know of a NO Church where it is common practice to receive the Eucharist on the tongue while kneeling in the D.C. area?

St. Veronica Parish in Chantilly, VA at the 11am Sunday Mass… ordinary form in Latin, incense, kneelers available for Communion (at least in the front/center). A very solemn and traditional take on the ordinary form.

Some receive in the hand, some on the tongue, and some on the tongue while kneeling. Whatever you prefer. But you certainly wouldn’t be the only one kneeling. The other Sunday Masses are less solemn and don’t have the kneelers out during Communion.

Yes, I would also recommend St. Veronica’s. If you wish to receive Holy Communion kneeling, sit by the center aisle. At communion time the ushers will set up a double kneeler, so don’t worry if you don’t see it when you go in. Many people receive kneeling. The house we own in Virginia is located in St. Veronica’s parish so we often go there when we are home. It is a wonderful parish with good, solid preaching. It is also a good place to go for the Sacrament of Penance.

St. Andrew the Apostle in Silver Spring is respectful of the reverent choice to kneel to receive the Eucharist (Ordinary Form).

If it’s just a question of Sunday Mass, there are a few places in NoVa where you can go. St. John the Beloved in McLean has a High Mass (sung) every Sunday at noon. Also St. Michael has a Sunday EF Mass at 6:15am. And St. Lawrence in Alexandria has one at 12:30pm.

For weekday EF masses, I don’t think there is one every day, but you can get through much of the week if you don’t mind going to several churches:
Monday: St. John the Beloved, McLean, 7:30pm
Wednesday: Holy Spirit, Annandale, 7:30am (morning!)
Thursday: St. Rita, Alexandria, 7:30pm.
Friday: St Raymond of Peñafort, Springfield, 1st and 3rd Fridays at 7:00pm
Saturday: Holy Spirit, Annandale, noon

Maybe someone in DC or Maryland has one on Tuesday or the other Fridays.

I hope this is helpful. I should think that churches that have EF Masses at least once a week would also be more accommodating to people kneeling for the Eucharist at other Masses, but I’m just guessing.

I would suggest that you try St. Rita’s in alexandria.

At the masses I have been to they stand behind the rails to permit people to kneel if they choose to, but many people recieve standing up as well.

They celebrate the extraordinary form on thursdays, but when they celebrate the ordinary form it is done in a very reverent way.

also, the extraordinary form is practiced on wednesday at Holy Spirit in annandale and on monday at st john’s in mclean and on the first friday of the month at st raymond of pentafort in springfield.

Let me also suggest Stt. Mary, Mother of God (and here is the official website; Masstimes are Monday - *8:00am, 12:05pm, *5:15pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 12:05pm).

Take the red line from Shady Grove to Gallery Place an it’s a 2 block walk. When I worked closer to Gallery Place, I’d go for daily Mass.

One more place that seems to suit you would be Catholic Information Center at 1501 K St. NW (official web site; Mass at 12:05).

Again, take the red line from Shady Grove but go to Metro Center. At Metro Center, go downstairs and catch the blue or orange line to McPherson Square. It’s a 1 block walk from there.

Finally, this website has been a great help to me in thepast when trying to find a daily Mass downtown.
