We are going to be visiting Williamsburg area soon over a weekend. Any recommendations for a parish there to attend? Masstimes brings up a few choices so I’m wondering which of these to attend. One of the priests at our home parish was recently transferred to a mission parish near VA Beach, but I’m not sure if we want to drive down there since we also have to get home that day.

Choose the closest church and be done with it. And Williamsburg is quite a ways from Virginia Beach.

We will be in Williamsburg later this month, though not over a weekend. When making plans, I came across this church: St. Bede Catholic Church
3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188 and their schedule may be found at: bedeva.org/about/mass.htm

Safe traveling!

Thank you. This one came up in Masstimes too and I think that is where we will attend. It’s nice to see they have several mass times to choose from, so we can travel home easily as well.

St. Bede is good but well the layout is a little Protestant like…I’d recommend going to Divine Liturgy at Ascension of Our Lord which is pretty close to St. Bede.

How different will that be for my recently-converted family? I did notice on the web-site that St Bede is rather “plain”, but is the liturgy there OK? We can handle a little kumbya music, but I’d rather not have changes to the words of consecration–my 13 yo follows very closely in the missal. On the other hand, I’m not sure they are ready for a whole different rite.

We went to nieces wedding in Williamsburg last October. While we were there, we attended St. Bede. It was a newer church and is pretty much “in the round” The people were very nice and the Mass was Orthodox. I did have trouble finding the Tabernacle from where I was sitting. They have a beautiful prayer garden if you have time to spend there it will be well worth it. Hope this helps.
