I wanted to know if it is o.k. to have masses (intentions) said for a person who is deceased but was not Catholic? Would that be proper? Thank you!

Sure, Dizz. Go for it. I mean, we can pray for anybody we like, no?

Amen!

Not only that what would be a better gift that you could give to the souls of those who passed from this life with out knowing the Truth that is found in Mother Church? The Mass is the greatest prayer in the world, and I believe we should have it offered often exspecially for those who do not, or did not know the power of the Mass!

It is a spiritual work of mercy to pray for the living and the dead, so you are doing something right by having a Mass offered for someone…even if they are not Catholic…

Blessings,

Cody

Yes. Both Catholics and non-Catholics go to purgatory after they die.

The people who are in purgatory need our prayers and need to have Masses said for them. To pray for the living and the dead is one of the spiritual works of mercy.

Non-Catholics usually have no one who will have Masses said for them after they die. So, it is a very thoughtful thing to have Masses said for our deceased non-Catholic friends and relatives.
