The article says that masks are good for droplets, which I believe I have said. They said nothing about stopping the virus in a person’s breath. I suppose they’re useful for situations as 'Tis described, but I carry a handkerchief and I will use my sleeve if I’m not able to get it out fast enough. And I will stay home if I don’t feel well.

If you can go you should go, besides while no one is looking you can take your nose out of the mask, i cant breath in that thing so i keep my nose out (people just stare at me with mean faces though).

i am 90% sure that if you can go and you dont go its a sin (on sundays and on days of obligation)

…and respiratory secretions. They recommend them whenever people are indoors. In places like churches.
It’s just a weird thing to turn into some symbol of government oppression. It’s a mask. Just wear it. Other generations had to land on Omaha Beach under machine gun fire. You can handle a mild inconvenience.

We can go to Mass here with mask, but seating is limited. The diocese has suspended mandatory attendance through 30 August.

We have plenty of large families with children at Mass and our restrooms are open.

It will be interesting to see what this Sunday will be like as our governor has just mandated wearing masks in public.

This. I just don’t get how this is a political thing. It’s a public health recommendation. Like not walking barefoot in restaurants. Or urinating on street corners. Just do it.

Then why is Joe Biden saying that he would make it mandatory?
Because people aren’t wearing them. When I say it’s not a political thing, I mean refusing to wear them is nonsensical and has been politicized for no understandable reason.

Since people are seemingly unwilling to protect each other in the most basic of ways, it apparently needs to be mandatory. Like rationing in World War II, or black out curtains. Or the aforementioned rules about bare feet and not urinating in public.

You have adoration? Ours is still suspended until further notice.

Our bathrooms are available for use, but they have big wordy signs on them. The upshot is that only one person is allowed inside at a time, so please knock before entry. I guess people have been standing by to sanitize after every use too. Wow!

There are three churches in my neighborhood having it. One had it daily through the whole shutdown and is still having it daily, one resumed having it daily a couple weeks ago, and one has it one day per week including during shutdown. Some other churches still have it suspended.

You carry a handkerchief, but how does that help when others are sneezing near you or on you? And are you going to offer your sleeve to others? Before, or after they sneeze?
I don’t understand how your handkerchief and your sleeve protect you from other people’s sneezes, coughs, etc.

The mask is primarily worn to protect others from your germs, not you from theirs.

Here in the Philippines wearing masks is mandatory when out in public. If caught, an official warning is given. If caught a second time the person is arrested and jailed.
Only if such measures are strictly adhered to do you have any hope of stopping the spread of the virus.
This attitude that appears to exist in the US of I don’t want anyone telling me what to do is dangerous in a health crisis like this. In the worst health crisis in a hundred years the rights of society must take priority over the rights of an individual.

Yep. That’s why I was asking those rhetorical questions to the person who said he had a handkerchief, a sleeve, etc.

They should just have mass at Walmart. Hundreds of people roam freely buying garden hose, and bbq grills no problems. Safest place in the country right now when it comes to freedom.

Church buildings are where people get sick and die, stay away . The police will rightfully arest you. Go to Starbucks and Walmart were it’s safe, or go to the free country of CHAZ

They should be wearing a mask there too. It’s not an either/or requirement.

Your missing the point. Right now it is an either or requirement . Total freedom everywhere ecept at mass. That’s the point.

I can sit in my car and have a conversation with the lady at the drive thru window at Starbucks , or McDonald’s all day any day. But I have to jump thru all kinds of hoops to get to a scocial distant conffesion. And that was only possible in the last few weeks , for a couple months cant even get to confession.

But Starbucks, home depot, Walmart, no problem all day every day. Its ridiculous!!!
