But it was the mass, and I’m hoping that attending these masses will shorten my time in purgatory (sometimes I feel as if I’m already there).

Why would a Chrism Mass be celebrated by a Bishop in a military multi-use chapel, instead of a Cathedral? The Ordinary of the Military diocese is headquartered in NY, or DC?
 
I went for the 1st time. It was very interesting. I had no idea what to expect. It was really neat to get to see all the preists recommit to service. It was also a honor to get to meet the Archbishop and have him bless me and welcome me to the Church.
 
I went to the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral in Denver. It is on Tuesday because so many priests come from across Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and (I think) Nebraska. I bring my oldest 2 boys every year (now 10 and 8) - I want them to see how being a priest is not such a lonely life, that there are many, many priests (over 300 at the service).
Many of the local Catholic highschoolers who are being confirmed this year also come.

Archbishop Chaput gave a great homily, and another priest, celebrating his 25th anniversary, gave a rousing statement about his love for his priesthood, and a call for all of the Confirmandi to consider their own possible vocation to the priesthood or religious life.

I encourage all Catholics to go to at least one Chrism Mass like that. The best part is that ALL of the priests concelebrate the Eucharist and say the Eucharistic prayer. The whole cathedral hums with the prayer of 300 priests. Amazing!!!

That is interesting, the military diocese is of course world wide, I understand that, Was the Chrism Mass celebrated by an Auxilary Bishop in the country your are in? I have never really thought about the logistical functioning of the Military diocese.
 
I attended our diocesan Chrism Mass. While I am happy for those who have reported on their unique experiences, this was not my first time attending, nor am I any kind of stranger to concelebrated liturgies.

However 😃 This is the first year that I have been asked to represent my parish and bear the holy oils 😃 All of our parish’s “old guys” are too old and frail this year, which I guess makes me the new old guy.

During Communion, my pastor was returning from the sanctuary and passed by us in the Commuion line – He greeted my wife in the usual way, then he greeted me and kissed my hand! I had not expected that!

Had to work this year. But, I love this Mass and the re-dedication of the Priests. Our Priest has a twin brother that is also a Priest and when they are in the procession you can’t tell whom is whom.
 
Yes, I went. The Cathedral was packed. I got there 45 minutes before the Mass and had to stand at the back- until the ushers relocated me to a corner behind a confessional :o
 
I’d love to but it is invitation only and I’ve never been invited. I understand the logistics problem, but I’m still not sure I would want to attend a liturgy with an approved guest list.
