The cardinal is in a chasuble…the proper vestment of the Mass (as opposed to the cope)…if it’s not a Mass…it’s still inappropriate. If it is a Mass…God help us.

I believe we were asked not to discuss that particulars of that picture.

If it is a Mass, it’s fair game. If not…why is he wearing a chasuble and sitting in what is clearly a presidential chair?

and again a thread that would have been nice is highjacked by those with a malicious agenda. No wonder the Church is in such trouble, no open discourse with benevolence, only malicious backstabbing and agendas.

Lets just continue to rip apart based on the bad without ever attempting to build on the good.

thank you for ignoring a request from the Mods

It is not fair game as the moderator of this forum said that it is not fair game.

This happens to be a private forum and the mod’s set the rules that we are to play by.
GENERAL NOTICE

This thread can be an inspiring set of photographs depicting celebration of our liturgies from many points across the nation and the globe.

It is not to be used however, for:

a series of photos and/or commentary which attempts to disparage Mass celebrations,

contributions from the “usual suspects” who wish to throw barbs at individual parishes, bishops and dioceses and who often provide us with photos from anti papal and anti Catholic sites or,

An attempt to infer or imply that one rite is more “Catholic” than another or that liturgical “abuse” is the standard rather than the exception for those who disagree with them.

Those not interested in posting photos, as they prefer other Masses, are free to view and save commentary about their preferences for other threads where those comments are on topic.

Hijackers of the thread may regrettably find a change in the status of their posting privileges.

The thread topic is: Mass of Paul VI Pictures

Let us enjoy together!
This occured before the Mass started.

Besides the eyewitness testimony I have here is no proof from this picture that it occured during a Mass.

Have fun. It offers a fine description of a Pauline Mass celebrated by a Cardinal Archbishop of a major archdiocese.

And, as for the rules of this forum…I wasn’t the one who posted that picture a second time and raised the issue of what it depicts.

Don’t flick cigarettes in forests and then wonder why fires erupt.

The moderator did not single out that picture. In fact, that picture was allowed to stay on this forum.

If what that picture depicts embarasses you or your vision of the Novus Ordo Missae, the problem is not with the poster, or me, or some convenient “traditionalist” source, or anyone or thing but the Ordinary presiding.

That picture did not create any stir on this thread until ByzCath decided to raise the point that it might not be a Mass, just perhaps something pre-Mass, or maybe post-Mass…though for some reason the Mass celebrant is already vested in sacred Mass vestments and seated on the presidential chair.

I would say, though, that if a photo of a Mass should appear that troubles someone…that’s not the fault of the source. It’s the fault of the celebrant and/or Ordinary who allowed it.

Is there a pcture smewhere in there? I think I missed it?

Oh well, I was hoping to see some nice pics to share with our new Liturgy Director, guess I will have to go searcing for them myself instead of seeing what other people find inspiring.

Rand,

If I had known about this thread I’d have taken some pictures last night at Immaculate Heart just north of Holy Rosary.

Paul VI Mass all Latin, with our favorite Cantores in Ecclesia. True, they have removed the communion rail but the Mass was very well done. VERY REVERENT.

Next Saturday its at Holy Rosary, so I’ll be there.

James O’Donnell from Westminster Abbey will be giving an organ Concert prior to Mass.

Now I wish that I’d taken some photos during the masses I went to at Notre Dame, St Peter’s, and the Cathedral in Barcelona! It just seemed so rude at the time, that everyone was taking photos while I was trying to figure out which part of the mass we were up to! 😛

Pax tecum!

I wish I could go this weekend, but I’ve got another comittment on Saturday evening. There’s a dinner and dance at St. Michael’s that I’m taking my girlfriend to. I wish that was on another night, because I was really looking forward to hearing James O’Donnell play (haven’t heard him before). I was talking to one of my history professors (who is Episcopalian) the other day after class. She was very upset that she is going to be out of town this weekend and won’t be able to go to hear James O’Donnell play either.

Anyway, I’ve been to the Latin NO at Immaculate Heart once. My family and I went to Mass there for Corpus Christi this year. It was very beautiful…and boy can Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers preach!

In Christ,
Rand

Sadly, no one took a picture of this so I’ll have to paint a word picture.

For the 100th anniversary celebration of my parish, the Cardinal came to celebrate Mass and was joined by many (like 20) priests who have served the parish over the years or grew up in the parish. It was an awesome site to see them all gathered around the altar together in concelebration!

yay this thread is back!! I love all the pictures Please keep sharing folks
