I’ve a question this New Year’s day morning. First off, I’ll say I did not go to Mass at my regular parish last weekend, and so I did not get a bulletin or hear the announcements.
Early this morning, I checked the website to confirm Mass time this morning. I was somewhat surprised to hear that there was a vigil Mass yesterday afternoon at 430 pm, and no Mass today- 1-1-2016…
I did a quick check of the next closest parish- about 10 miles away. They do not put their bulletin on line. there was no announcement concerning today on their site, and their normal schedule states there is no daily Mass on Tuesdays or Fridays.
Obviously, I won’t be going to Mass today.
Does anyone else find it odd that no Mass is celebrated on the actual feast day- only a vigil Mass??? If the church does not put much significance onto such things, isn’t it clear that the people won’ either?
Notre Dame plays at 11 this morning… I guess that will serve as my religious obligation today. Go Irish. Beat the Buckeyes.
