The graces that are given by God in Mass are infinite. The graces that one receives from the Mass is the amount that they are disposed to recieve and that God wishes to give them.

If one is in a state of Mortal sin then no graces from that Mass would be effected.

It’s hard to calculate what “benefits” in a quantitative sense, but you can think of it this way. When you have a Mass said for yourself, a person or an intention, you are essentially gaining the prayers of the worldwide faithful: Those in your Congregation, those in your diocese, those across every continent on the globe, and all the angels and saints. After all, the faithful are “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses” (cf. Hebrews 12:1)

It is for this reason that Mass is sometimes referred to as the “source and summit” of Catholicism. There is really no other “prayer” that could be held in higher regard.

You will receive graces from a Mass that you attend and more if one is offered for you.

In his encyclical “Ecclesia de Eucharistia,” our beloved late Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, taught, “In the celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice, the Church prays that God, the Father of mercies, will grant His children the fullness of the Holy Spirit so that they may become one body and one spirit in Christ. In raising this prayer to the Father of lights, from whom comes every good endowment and every perfect gift, the Church believes that she will be heard, for she prays in union with Christ her Head and Spouse, who takes up this plea of His Bride and joins it to His own redemptive sacrifice” (No. 43).

A great doctor of the Church, St. Anselm, declares that a single Mass offered for oneself during life may be worth more than a thousand celebrated for the same intention after death. St. Leonard of Port Maurice supports this statement by saying that one Mass before death may be more profitable than many after it.

Masses are not said in someone’s honor, but for a specific reason, to ask for the united prayers of priest and congregation for the intention named, most often for the deceased but also on the occasion of an important anniversary for instance. Mass is always said for the honor and glory of God. The benefits of the Mass are just that, the prayer is offered up for the intention you name, the most powerful intercessory prayer we have is the Mass.
