There is a priest’s portable stuff for celebrating Holy Communion on sale second-hand in a local charity shop near me. It’s the carry case, a round gold tray for the host and 6 small chalices. I think it’s probably a Protestant one, as the small chalices are common in the presbyterian church here, but I’ve never seen such a thing in a Catholic church.
All the same, validly blessed or not, it seems wrong that somebody could buy something that can only really be used for celebrating Holy Communion and use it for profane or secular use. I’d hate to see the dish turned into an ash-tray or something.
Should I buy this and give it to the Church?
