Massachussets governor wants to ban gay marriage

They need to be pressured to pass the amendment, or else petition to get it on the ballot for the people to decide.

It was petitioned. The legislatre must pass the amendment prior to a popular vote. The legislature didn’t approve it for a vote as is required by the state constitution. So, the elected representatives of the people acted on the question. The people are free vote them out, but the pro-gay-marriage candidates have been gaining seats in the legislature. The people are speaking through these elections.

The legislature recessed the vote to Jan. 2. That’s the problem - they didn’t even vote on it and the constitution indicates that they must. Romney is just trying to force them to do what they’re supposed to do as elected democratic officials. Romney definitely needs our support and I applaud him for his aggressiveness in this matter. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be successful.

The legislature wants it both way. They want to kill the vote, yet they want to deny they did it. I think it would be much more fun to have the vote.
 
It’s not about “fun”, it’s about what is morally right. Massachussetts Catholics and Christians of other denominations, please call, write, or e-mail your legislators. We need to show support for traditional marriage, as God ordained it, and as He taught it in His Word, the Holy Bible. :gopray2: :bible1:

Can’t let them darned homo-sexuals get married! We all know marriage is based in the union of a man and woman in the eyes of God! How do we know that? Cuz it’s been done that way for ever!

Next, we’ll have pigs practicing polygamy with human clones!

Joke all you want but in reality the next step is the equal marital status of polygamous relationships. It’s happening in Holland so know someone in this country sooner or later will legally demand it. We’ve opened Pandora’s box I’m afraid.

Is this sarcasm? I hatet the net because i cant tell what tone someone is using. Well if not…

Tradition = truth huh? So i guess we should go around burning “witches”, or forcing blacks to be our slaves. I know, lets go crucify prisoners, or force your daughter to marry someone shes never meet. Because after all tradition=truth.

Not about fun? I suppose that depends on the individual outlook. I have great fun watching the battles between the gays and the activist Christians. Life can be lots of fun if you let it.

And if we let the Christians block gay marriage, then the next step will be the pope taking over America. It’s happened in Europe. Look at history. Lots of stuff in Pandora’s box.

I say we send Roman Crusader out there in his garb on his horse and scare the pants off of them. They oughta shape up then.

or we could take some tips from radical Islam and
Burn a few effigys and Chant death to the lawmaker who does this!! Huge posters with bad handwriting and the works.

But get back on topic. We’re focusing on the restriction of the rights of “gay” people. Remember, our goal as Catholics is to use any means neccessary to pursuade people to not commit moral sins. That especially includes gay people. We can’t let their “love” be recognized by the state! Don’t you understand what that would mean? If two consenting, loving, gay people can get married, what next? Clones marrying ostriches while practicing witchcraft; that’s what.

Therefore, gay marriage should be illegal!

And if you feel differently, don’t you dare come up and recieve communion with us righteous people.

It was a little bit humorous the first time but not funny the second time. I must say, I’ve never seen so many liberal Catholics and/or anti-Catholics in one thread.

My post points out the ridiculous arguments that many Catholics use to justify thier discrimination. The Catholic position is based on religious beliefs - beliefs which ought not to be forced on those who don’t hold them. Half of the Catholic argument centers on the religious side of things, such as claiming the authority of the Church and what she’s said on the matter. The other half is reduced to claiming that allowing homosexual marriage will allow a huge number of other things - like polygamy, for instance. It’s a stupid argument, obviously, as I satirically pointed out above.

Furthermore, I’ve pointed out how ridiculous it is that Catholics put homosexuality in the same branch as beastiality, abortion, and human cloning (“culture of death”, anyone?). They’re completely and totally unrelated. Advocating homosexuality definately doesn’t mean that you would advocate abortion, beastiality or human cloning.

The arguments against the state recognizing gay marriage are either completely ridiculous or founded in religious thought. I felt I would argue about it in a non-traditional (ridiculous) way.
