My wife and I are moving to H-town, and we want to know where to go to Mass during the week. (Annunciation’s TLM on Sundays). Where are the best places that have Mass during the week? Thanks.

Well, that depends on where you work and if you are talking about morning, evening, noon time, etc.

There are so many choices.

Can you be a little more specific in what you are looking for and what part of town you’ll be living and working in?

What part of Houston? If you are moving to the south side, around the Friendswood/Clear Lake area, I have a recommendation.

If you are going to Annunciation on Sunday you might consider going there during the week. Also there is Holy Rosary at the edge of downtown near midtown. They have a 5:15pm mass and a 12:10pm mass. In Houston there are so many churches to chose from, but your schedule and where you live and where you work will largely determine where you go for daily mass. It takes 30 minutes to get anywhere in Houston that is not in your neighborhood. If you are on the southwest side, St. Thomas More is a great parish.

Oh, the great thing about Holy Rosary is that, like Annunciation, they still have alter rails and they use them.

And since you like the Tridentine mass, you will probably appreciate the mass at Holy Rosary.

Hey, I just found out that Our Lady of Walsingham (Anglican Use) has Mass at 12:15 T-Fri, and I am going to check it out soon. Their Mass is very similar to Tridentine Rite, but is in English, priest *ad orientam. *I also live in Houston, and can tell you a few suggestions.

My recommends have already been posted:

Annunciation
OLO Walsingham
Holy Rosary (they have a Latin Novus Ordo)

👍 I love mass at our lady. It’s awesome!

As others have said, it depends on where you work/live. In Sugar Land, St. Theresa’s is good. Also, Our Lady of Walshingham I’ll second as really nice. St. Michael’s in the Galleria area is good - we now have a new set of priests. (One of them is really good)🙂

I go to st. micheals myself. I like Fr. Rossi but we just lost two priests and i don’t think we are getting repleacements.

Aboslutely, Annunciation if you are near downtown. It all depends on where you will be living/working. If your in Southwest Houston or Sugar Land area, then by all means…St Theresa’s. Very orthodox. Weekday masses: 6:30 am / 8:30 am / 5:30 pm, Mon - Fri, 8:30 am - Sat , with confessions heard after every mass.

Also, St Thomas More, St Anne’s, St John Vianney.

Welcome to Houston !!!

St. Mike’s is where I go as well! (Came into the Church there in 2006 with Fr. Ed). No, from what I know it’s only Msg. Rossi and Fr. Howard for awhile! Luckily, Fr. John is now near my workplace. Wish he was still around.

I love father john. I went to his ordination. Most amazing thing to see a man submitting all his body, soul and life to serving God. By they way he is like the best confessor i have ever had. Such great advice.

P.S. I normal go to the 11am mass. You can see me in the side chapel. Just look for the women with the veil.

Ah, ok. There are so few who wear a veil there. Good to know about Fr. John. (I’m hoping he’ll be invited back for the Parish wide Penance services. Though he always had a long line. 😃 )

Believe me i know. It seems to scare people. The last 3 sundays the whole pew emptied after communion. I don’t know if it is me or if people just want to leave to bet the traffic.

Knowing the crowds at the 11am Mass, it’s probably to miss the traffic. 😦 It is discouraging to see the number of folks who leave after Communion. That and those who don’t sing, but just stand there with a bored look. (As a former Baptist, it’s frustrating.)

My father told me it was the Judas Shuffle if you leave early from mass. I mean how hard is it really to stay 5 mintues and get the priests blessing. And traffic is not that bad because most people who sit in the side chapel park in the school parking lot across the street.
