Students are never told about this until they find out the hard way trying to get a job that does not exist.Interesting. So are students who are planning to go to college get this information before choosing a career? And why would the government lobby for more H1B and L1 visas because, knowing that, I would have one more reason to complain about the current Administration and one more question to ask prospective Presidential candidates?
I hope this info gets passed on to other forums with people who don’t know this and are under the impression that employment opportunities are out there.

The government doesn’t do the lobbying for more H1B or L1 visas. Big tech companies do.
Google, facebook, Apple, Microsoft. And many, many, others.
Microsoft, for example, has a Vancouver BC office, which serves only one purpose: They hire people using Canada’s liberal immigration laws, then they take them across the border into Redmond using L1 visas. Guess how many US Citizens they laid off lately? 18,000.
Some STEM shortage, eh?
Also ,this is not about this administration, these horrible programs have been going on for over two decades.
Meanwhile Hillary, Rubio and many other politicians running for president are asking that the H1B visa cap be lifted, meaning more unemployment for US techies.
