If somebody has masters in theology how does it work when they go to seminary? Do they still have to do 4 years or is there time shortened?

It’s all about the formation, not the qualification! (As I was told when I asked that question when being accepted in to the Permanent Diaconate program)
And M.Th is not an M.Div (which includes the pastoral certification/seminars/observations etc).
If they require you to do the years then specialize in something you love.
