One of the biggest thing that disturbs me is that I often seem to wake up and consent to masturbate to these images, even debating the morality of the action and deciding to do it anyways even though I know it’s wrong. But then I wake up for real later on.

It’s the pills hon
Trust me because I’ve been there done that.

Yeah, but that’s still a dream. You’re not really consenting.

???
You had a dream.
Stop it already with the drama.
Robert,
For some, dealing with dreams, especially vivid ones can be very difficult and there are some very valid medical reasons that can impair the ability to reconcile dreams with reality.
Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of stuff I can do with my downtime.
Ok, so where you live there are some significant road blocks for socializing; however, you have to make the effort… I know, it seems you have, and you may really have tried in the past; however, it can take dozens of times to find the right activities. So yes you may have to carpool, etc… however, social interaction takes effort.
I do get some exercise, especially on my lunch break.
Is this at a gym or just walking/on-your-own?
I’m on multiple medicines for mental health problems including anxiety right now, with limited success.
OH>>> PLEASE TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THE DREAMS! ASAP <<
Some of these medications have some nasty side effects and depending on which ones they could be either causing or intensifying the dreams. These medications can also cause the very symptoms that are being treated to worsen. It is imperative that you work not only with your physician but also a psychologist that specializes in the fields covering the issues you are having. A general practitioner (God Bless them) is often not knowledgeable enough to completely handle treatment for some types of mental health issues.

(( robertmidwest, this is exactly what I am talking about when it comes to dreams and mental states! ))

Saint Augustine was also bothered by such dreams. It’s good to not like them, but don’t let them separate you from God. You are not conscious and are not sinning.

The trouble with talking to a doctor is that most doctors don’t see anything wrong with just going ahead and masturbating to “release the tension.” I’ve already had to fight for the idea that there’s nothing wrong with me because I don’t want to go out and have sex - it’s been very hard to not have that seen as a symptom of my depression. And due to insurance I have a very limited set of doctors I can see.

Read carefully. He didn’t say to discuss the morality of masturbation with your Doctor.
He said to tell him about your VIVID DISTURBING DREAMS.
Due to your meds. This may all be alleviated by an adjustment.

Pray, for heaven’s sake! You’re not to blame for dreams.
Pray the St. Michael prayer and go BACK to the Doctor!

Those are still just dreams. Remind yourself of that. You aren’t consenting for real, because you are still asleep–and unconscious people can’t give consent (have you seen the “tea” video? 😉 ). Perhaps the devil is trying to get you to imagine yourself consenting to this sin because it can be easier to do what we’ve thought about doing beforehand, and because if you believe you’ve already sinned (even when you haven’t yet), you’re more likely to fall into (more) sin. The devil’s trying to break down your barriers and get you to despair and sin. But again, dreaming that you consent to sin is still just a bad dream. There is no sin in that. There is no actual consent.

Don’t entertain the thought that you “should” have control over your dream self, or that you’re guilty of doing something wrong, or that there is something “wrong” with you because your body is physically aroused when you’re aroused in your mind. Your body is just responding to the idea that you’re aroused, not necessarily to those images you’re dreaming of.

Keep dismissing these dreams as “just dreams,” not as something sinful. Eventually, it will get better–but you have to remind yourself that these dreams are not worthy of taking your attention away from your spiritual life. Worrying about them is only distracting you from doing what you should be doing–you NEED to be praying and focusing on holy things, putting God first, not allowing this to come between you and God. You are still a child of God, and He loves you.

The devil wants you to think that it’s awful or “dirty” to speak to God after dreams like this disturb you. But speaking to God is what you need to help overcome these things! Don’t be afraid to pray for help, and if it’s too difficult to approach God directly right now, then ask the saints and Mary to pray for you. But don’t give up and don’t avoid prayer. You need to refocus your mind on holy things after dealing with disturbing things.

Will say a prayer for you! :gopray2:

I got that, but I’m afraid the doctor would just say to go masturbate or be sexually active so I can release the tension. Especially seeing as it took several years to find medication that I responded to and didn’t have life-threatening side effects, I doubt we’re going to want to change meds over something this simple.

I haven’t read any of the replies, but here’s some advice.

Assuming you aren’t doing anything to cause these dreams, like look at porn or something, you have NO sin. This is purely the devil tempting you.

Do you feel bad from these dreams? Don’t be. Assuming you haven’t masturbated due to them, you are pleasing God greatly! God is only allowing the devil to give you these dreams, so you may grow stronger spiritually!

Do not be afraid to touch holy things after a nasty dream! It will get them out of you! Just ignore any bad thoughts, and pray to God! And if in your prayers you see the ugly things, just ignore them. Even if you spend the entire time praying, trying to ignore them, the prayer is totally valid, and reverend.

God Bless! 😃

OP has been posting same thing for two years now it looks like. Suggestions to see a doctor, or deal with scrupulosity, or dismiss the dreams as just dreams are falling on deaf ears.

I seem to deliberate and consent to the matter within my dream.
You used the word “seem”. As I stated before, you are unconscious when you are asleep. You cannot consent to sin in an unconscious state.

As another posted stated, “forgive yourself”. This is not your fault.

ahhhh. Posting history does factor in, thank you.

I’m already on the smallest dose that will control my symptoms right now. So in order to change meds I’d have to go back through the years-long process of trying new medications and not being able to work for half the time.

I’m listening to these suggestions, I really am, but I don’t know how to just “let go” or “not worry about it”. I’m too ashamed that I become aroused at this filth. And I don’t feel like I have anywhere to go to talk about it in real life.

This is not your fault. It’s a natural body reaction to what your brain is perceiving…you can’t help it, no one can.

Remember, God loves you no matter what you do. We humans cannot understand this concept. It’s hard for us to imagine somebody (another human) still loving us after we repeatably hurt them by sinning. But that is why God is God. God asks very little of us…all He wants us to do is obey and love him but we are fallen creatures. God knows this. That is why He sent His only begotten Son into the world…to save us because we can’t save ourselves.

Believe and trust in Him, He knows what He is doing and has a plan for everyone. And when you fall, say you are sorry (confession) and promise to try and do better next time. Keep pushing forward, keep the faith and finish the race. After confession, don’t dwell on the sins you confessed…this is insulting God by not trusting in His forgiveness and mercy.

Again, you cannot sin while dreaming or in an unconscious state. I know it’s easy for me to say “let it go” but you have to. You are wasting your life by dwelling on past mistakes.

Be at peace and God Bless.

It’s not natural though. It’s not normal or natural to be aroused by committing sacrilegious or criminal acts. If it were just normal sex dreams that would be one thing, but this stuff is just so extreme, stuff you couldn’t even depict in porn.

Yes. Look at the profile history. There are only something like 25 post over the last 2 years. Every single one is about the same subject.

I am dubious about the true intentions of the poster. The subject of deviant sex coming up over and over again for two years now.

Since it affects you so much, you should see a mental health professional. End of story.

Or start drawing, there’s probably a market for outlandish cartoon violence.
