Well I have come to find out that Jesus is real and I have one sin which I cannot overcome.
Now if I try hard to fight this sin I get major headaches and anxiety.

The Lord removed alot of lust from my mind, I used to fantasize all day with porn videos playing in my mind. I had a 1 year fight of cleansing my mind and now my mind is silent with none of these sinful videos playing.

Ultimately my problem is I cannot go for 3 days without falling into masturbation. It is as if Satan is aware I escaped his mental control and now he is making every effort to keep my soul dead. I pray and pray but no luck, maybe fasting…idk

I cannot even go for a good week or month. 2-3 days and the pressure in my head gets so great added with a 3 min lustful though and I just give in each time.

Why did God damn Man with masturbation? I seriously do not see any way of stopping unless cutting it off…any suggestions?

I think that masturbating is something natural and part of someone’s life. The hormones require you to do it.

Just calm down and I guess do it just to release yourself from the condition. Blessings

My friend I’m in a similar situation. And I’m discerning the Seminary! I feel as though its truly keeping me from being where I need to be spiritually before proceeding to the next step. It’s something I’ve spent much time trying to fight. I truly feel the Holy Spirit is with me now and helping me but I still fail. It’s the same for me, I get about two or three days and then the lust hits me all at once and I end up choosing to sin. I say choosing because before it happens when the feeling is there I tell myself many times “You don’t have to do this” but I end up choosing to do it u_u It’s very frustrating and I feel hopeless sometimes. But through reconciliation and receiving the Eucharist, and through much prayer I know i’m on the road to beating it. I try to pray when the lust hits me. I’ll get away from my computer or any other source of potential temptation and I’ll say a couple our fathers or hail marys. I’ve considered reading Scripture or the Catechism, something to distract me long enough to conquer the burst of temptation that comes. I fail more than I succeed but I “do” succeed which is why I wanted to note that. It may help you. Good luck to you in your struggle and may the light of Christ help you overcome all sin! God Bless!

Don’t listen to this advice, this is not at all true. Yes every man feels sexual desire, just as every woman. It’s a healthy and good thing as we are drawn to procreate. It’s essential to our survival as a human species. That said, masturbation serves no purpose in creating life. It’s nothing more than self gratification which is why it always is and always will be a sin. Please don’t encourage someone struggling with the sin of masturbation to just give up and sin. That’s not right. I know you’re just trying to help and appear anyways, to be of the mindset that its healthy/natural because science tells us it relieves stress and other health boosts. But spiritual health is being effected and negatively, every time we choose to sin. It’s not something to feel despair about. But it’s also not something to give up on fighting and just fall into too and accept it as normal. We don’t teach that it’s ok to act on homosexual urges (even if they feel natural to those suffering from them) we know as a species that homosexual acts will not extend our species. Just because we have a desire to do somethin doesn’t mean we should do it. We have to examine our conscience and reconcile ourselves to the Catechism and to Scriptures. Christ must come first in every thought, every action and every breath. God Bless.

This is a complicated topic, yet I’m sorry to hear it is a struggle. I’m not a therapist, but I can tell you that breaking a habit is difficult. I’ve succeeded in breaking habits with Our Lady’s help. Through the Rosary. First try to take small steps, today is day one, think in terms of cleansing your mind. Be pure for Our Lady. Make it a point to talk to her and ask for her help. In preparing your mind to be with Our Lady, you can see that she deserves reverence and maybe that will help you. This may take some time, don’t be discouraged.

Second: Love yourself and your body, but honor your body and respect it. Give thanks to the Lord for having made you in his image. If we focus on everything in thanksgiving to God, we have a tendency to recognize that when we do things to offend him we are hurting ourselves and pushing God away from us.

Remove all materials that may cause a lapse in your cleansing. Ask yourself if you are truly addicted to lust or lonely; or a combination of the two. Seek professional counseling, there are many Catholic Counseling services that can help you understand the inclination toward self gratification, which really is self degradation.

If you have been exposed to a certain lifestyle for a long time, don’t expect immediate results. Instead of fighting against lust, try surrendering to God’s will. It’s not easy because the flesh is weak, but it is do-able. It sounds corny, but when we surrender to God’s will, we reach a totally different level of awareness.

Pray for God’s guidance and pray for strength. You can do this. Ask St. Monica and St. Augustine for intercession. I’d recommend reading: “Hungering for God’s Love” an excerpt from “The Confessions”. Continue to pray the Rosary-it is powerful. Best of Luck. God Bless you.

Oh, I forgot to mention. Your title: “I seriously cannot win against it”.

Try to think in terms of: “I can” versus “I can’t”. Remember through God “ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE”.

Have you tried going to daily mass? Frequent confession? Avail yourselves of the graces the church has in place to help you fight the sin. I can tell you from experience, going to mass every day for a while will make a difference.

This is the worst advice possible. One should not encourage another to sin and claim it natural.

What about thinking in something else?
The Old Testament says that the Just sins 7 times a day. So, you are well…
Everyday at night, before going to bed, ask God for forgiveness for ALL your sin and not just this one.
On rising up, just ask again for forgivenness for all you have done wong in your life.
Pray before bed, pray on rising, pray during the day.
Be good to others and balance your life.
When one’s life is out of balance, one’s sexual life is out of balance. Maybe you are traumatized, or do not do physical exercize enough or are anti-social, God knows, or you have trouble with women, God knows.

Lead your life close to God and be in peace without asking questions that no one can answer !!!

I would say venial sins are meant there…

(speaking as to the objective nature of the act in question such is serious not venial…but it is possible of course that a persons culpability is reduced).

The other person would be recommended to read the things at the top of this site on chastity etc and see a regular confessor to help them overcome this difficulty.

I feel your pain, I used to be enslaved by it, it is disgusting and terrible i know. Months back i was addicted to it, it was terrible, the thoughts the urge and finally giving in. But through Confession and the EUCHARIST ( as i am diserning a call to the religious life and Priesthood, i decided in that i would get my act together!!) I stopped, by the grace, love and mercy of the SACRED HEART. Pray to The SACRED HEART, EUCharistic Adoration, The Rosary, Praying to Our Lady and St. Joseph, as well as your patron saint (s) should help. Really ask for the grace, and it will be given to you!! however i strongly disagree with the poster who said it is natural and part of the hormones. Wrong. Objectivley, it is a mortal sin, although addiction reduces cupability. So please Pray, Pray, and Pray. You can and will stop. I could, so can you! I’ll say a prayer for you!!

When I began to see it as a disgusting and terrible thing to do , thought about my body as a temple of the holy spirit and that i was driving the holy spirit away - the thought of a guardian angel watching me and thinking he must be long gone - that I was doing it in the sight of god it basically ruined it for me - I can never comfortably do it again. I also realized than when I gave in to the urge I began to fall away from my prayer life and church - because what was the point of going to church I couldn’t take communion anymore now that I had acknowledged it as a mortal sin and the humiliation of confessing to it - and I also had to think if it is so natural and and acceptable why did I feel so humiliated - because its wrong and belittling to me - so I had to make a decision either I am a believer in my faith or I’m not a believer and I made my choice - I prayed for help and its been successful for me not to mention the thought that all of heaven was watching me do this disgusting act . I now use the thoughts that come to mind as a cue that I am falling away. And to be honest after a period of time I didn’t even think about it anymore. Its a battle of the flesh over the spirit - think of it in that way - its just another addiction that becomes habit forming. You have to keep trying and win the battle how ever you can.

It took you a year to stop watching and day-dreaming about porn, so it will take you a while as well to stop masturbating.

You should work towards your goal, but keep in mind that masturbation is completely normal. We are all made with sexual urges; we are not “damned” to them. The vast majority of people have masturbated, and most do it fairly regularly. It’s a difficult habit to overcome, especially if you’re regularly stressed, but it’s not impossible. So…calm down a little 😛

For the time being you can try to avoid being alone or in an enclosed room for too long, or sleep with your lights on. And then work towards doing it every four days, then increase it to five, six, and so on.

I have to add that the above testimony was after my lengthy and heartbreaking battle over it and still it will always be hanging over my head but I battle on.

Masturbation, one of the most physically pleasurable act someone can do yet perhaps the most depressing, nothing kills the spirit and enthusiasm the way it does. Some very good points were raised by others but I would caution to make it the central focus of your life because then that’s almost all you think about. It would be helpful to recognize/find out to what end you use masturbation. Is it to relieve stress, to comfort yourself, to fight despair, as a way to “love” yourself because you feel deprived, then maybe you can address the upstream issue. Love, friendship, companoinship, engaging in regular relatively rigorous exercises can all decrease the urge to masturbate in addition to a rich prayer life and the Sacraments.

I just wrote in another thread:
Masturbation is a release of tension.
If we lead an unbalanced life or if we do not know how to balance our lives or if our lives are full of stress, we feel unhappy, stressed and need relieve that may come through masturbation or drinking or whatever.
So, everything that makes us lead better with stress is helpful: meditation, meditation and meditation, yoga, jogging, rosary, confession, communion, forgive, forgive and forgive our fellow brothers, trust in God, help others, smile, smile and smile, pray to our Mother, the Mother of God.

I was thinking about a pill to lower testosterone might do the trick. I prayed alot and was set free from the porn thoughts but I do not understand why the Lord would keep me with this addiction to masturbation.

I feel if I quit it I will eventually run right back to it each time. What annoys me is its always on my mind. I am really amazed at how some of you were set totally free.

So I guess many people will go to hell for this sin and I find it sad because in my eyes it is an impossible sin to give up.

I do not smoke, drink, do drugs but this one thing is basically my downfall. The other sins you can just avoid the store, bar, drug dealer and your ok but with this sin its connected to the body so your like damned with it.

So I was heavily into porn and masturbation at the age of 15.

I started to realize something was manipulating my eye sight. I followed the advice of a man on youtube: finalcall07. He went about saying Jesus died to free humans from sin and evil spirits which torment the human race.

I did a long drawn out fight against sin and prayed to Jesus, this went for a good year and a half. My eye sight started to become crystal clear and I could feel some kind of demon leave me and something entered me. This thing that has entered me is like a numbness to fear. Maybe this is the Holy spirit that entered?

But I have now headaches and cry more often.

So why am I writing this…I am looking for someone to tell me if they can relate to anything I am saying in this post.

For instance, humans will say curse words and lose their temper get angry…I see that this is actually evil spirits in them. If my spirit is strong and I stand next to two people conversing, the two people will begin to curse at each other.

When in sin, the world looks like hell. But then when you struggle to free from sin, everything around me looks like heaven. What is going on here?

The more I purify my soul, the more the visual image becomes sharper.

I discovered we have a soul after trying to fornicate with a woman. After this act, something took a hold of me and tried to get me to be very angry with people. It felt like a possession of my soul. I felt like an empty shell, just a body with no soul.

I am writing this because I want to know if anyone can relate to what I went through or is this all sound like crazy talk?

You absolutely cannot keep those thoughts in your head… when you have a lustful or unclean thought shun it immediately… focus on something else. Ask the Mother of God to pray for you, and ask Jesus especially for his Holy Spirit. Pick up a Rosary and use it to meditate on the mysteries of God.

Is your mind silent after receiving the Holy Spirit?

My mind is very silent but I will get a bad headache and then temptation and a bad image comes in.

Knightbird - We all must have to bare a cross. You obviously know what that cross is, at this point in your life … and there will be others. Your posts obviously show & prove, that you are seriously concerned and trying your best to rid yourself of this activity. God knows this! Know that he is proud of you, for continuing to fight for his Graces. He loves you beyond your understanding, and he understands the serious struggles you face in your life. It is obvious, also, that you love him, too!

It sounds to me as that you are not fully culpable for your actions, however, you can not ever let yourself off the hook. Why … because my opinion, the opinions of others, and even your own opinions, do not in any way equal what God knows & recognizes in your heart.

Remember, the souls in hell, are the one’s that FREELY deny & FREELY choose to avoid loving God. He alone knows who these souls are, and positively no one else.

In conclusion, your challenge (cross to bare) in your life is at least something you clearly recognize. All of us have or will definitely have crosses to bare. Lastly, recognize that all of the folks here, that have defeated this potentially mortal sin, have or will definitely have other serious crosses to bare in life, be they other types of sin or suffering. They are not exempt, from other wrongdoings, because they have defeated this one. God is very proud of them, because they have given great effort in trying to become more like his son.

We all fall short. The goal is to continue to love God more & more deeply, during the rest of your life. All will fall in place, unless you give up.

Thank God for Confession & the Eucharist. Take part in them often.
