In St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica, he states that when one masturbates he loses his virginity.
Is he wrong?
Is he wrong?
…I assume “Jesus”, “Mary”, and “very young children” is considered cheating?Do you know of anyone who hasn’t masturbated at least once in their life?
I guess it depends on what you define “virginity” as. So at least in one sense (the way he’s using it – might be different from the common modern usage), he probably is correct. It just depends on what he understands “virginity” to mean, and whether or not his arguments based on that are good ones… although he has an excellent track record in that regard, so I would tend to assume he’s right about what he says.In St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica, he states that when one masturbates he loses his virginity.

no he isn’t. Didn’t he deny the Immaculate Conception? I am also a fan of hisRemember St. Thomas Aquinas is not infallible.
btw I am a fan of his.
I’m sure that he would be quite happy if you forgot all about that…I think that you need to have knowledge of what you are doing.
I have ultrasound video of my son masturbating in-utero. I can’t imagine that it would be considered a loss of virginity.
No kidding…Talk about invasion of privacy!!!I’m sure that he would be quite happy if you forgot all about that…![]()
Asexuals…?…I assume “Jesus”, “Mary”, and “very young children” is considered cheating?
Asexuals…? I was thinking yesterday, what a blessing it must be for them, to not have problems in that area of life……I assume “Jesus”, “Mary”, and “very young children” is considered cheating?
Yeah but God created sex. Sex is good. You may not have problems in that area but you won’t be able to have sex. Therefore you cannot receive the sacrament of matrimony. ( You need to be able to consummate the marriage. )Asexuals…? I was thinking yesterday, what a blessing it must be for them, to not have problems in that area of life…
Identical? I didn’t know…Yeah but God created sex. Sex is good. You may not have problems in that area but you won’t be able to have sex. Therefore you cannot receive the sacrament of matrimony. ( You need to be able to consummate the marriage. )
Also all your children will be identical to you. That sucks!![]()
Normally I would associate this with being unsullied by another person. It is common in many cultures for people to want their perspective spouse to be unsullied by another person. In this context, I don’t think most people would consider a perspective spouse to be tainted if they have never had realtions with another person even if they had “relations” not involving another person.…2) The state of being pure, unsullied, or untouched. …
