If you had previously posted in my thread about masturbation, please post here as I really do need help… for some reason my other thread was deleted. If you were the person who was speaking about how it is taking sexuality inwards PLEASE message me, I really want to discuss this with you further as you brought up some points I had not thought about… Please don’t delete this thread admins… I really need help. Thanks!

This repulsive topic has been talked to DEATH. There are no new insights/solutions/whatever to it.

Get some self control and move on. If your unable to do so, get a shrink.

Is this your thread:

The post was clearly marked.

My advice, if you know you can’t be helpful, don’t open the thread - just scroll on by.
Sure! Same way in thinking-“who cares what rubbish is on the tube? Just change the channel! Don’t worry how this could be polluting our culture!”

Don’t worry how it makes other people who float on by this website question why in the world so many people seem to be obsessed with this topic.

You see Barb, my advice is “Move on, get some self control, and grow up.”

Never know. Could be the wonderous, clear and and blunt insight needed.
You might suggest frequent Reconciliation after each individual act and daily Mass for a couple of weeks to receive Eucharistic grace. And prayer.

(to develop self control, an increased level of maturity and a conversion of heart and mind. )

Yup, those all help. So does choosing to grow up and learn self control.

Insight? How is “Grow up” insightful? I call it insensitive, blunt for sure, like Cain was blunt with his brother Abel. Talk about killing hope.

I know from experience that it is more difficult to break sexual addictions than it is to break addiction to cocaine. The guy is reaching out to get some help, tryijng to reform his life and be obedient to God. Telling him to grow up and get some self control or to go see a shrink does nothing but cut the guy down - hardly the Christian thing to say to the guy.

Sexual addiction is a big problem. You can dismiss the problem if you want but study after study shows that 25% of American males are addicted to porn. Understand that this means your boss, your daughter’s algebra teacher and maybe your son.

Well than, if he truly does have an “addiction” then seeing a shrink would be a good idea now. On the topic of addiction, I also know alot about it, sadly first hand.

And yes, comparing what I said to “Cain and Abel” was right on the money.

I do dismiss fake sex addiction. It’s more a bad habit than anything else. Real sex addiction is terrible, like any addiction.

No one asked you to comment… And thank you for finding the post, barb! I’m not obsessed with this topic, but it is something that is very troublesome as it is very difficult to understand considering it isn’t really covered in the bIble, if you don’t want to field people’s questions about this topic, turn the other cheek and go away, but don’t tell me I need to grow up when I just have a question about my faith, which is in fact quite healthy and normal. Thanks.

There are various texts in the Scripture on sexual immorality. Jesus for example speaks of lusting…Paul speaks of various things…sexual immorality etc…and of course there are various things in the Old Testament.

Of course remember too that while the Bible is the Written Word of God --and is thus of great great importance…it was not meant as a “all inclusive” text …and the Bible is to be read within the Church.

Jesus formed a Church and gave authority to certain men…especially Peter…and of course with that will come various things made clear that are not treated by name in the Bible…we are of “the Word” --Jesus Christ

not a “people of the book”.

Rascal is right. Blunt, but right.

funny how most times people preach about mortal sin this andthat. Someone tells people to stop doing a mortal sin, and you people suddenly say that the op needs more hugs.

Sex addicts are rare, and usually dont admit to it. dont cheapen the word addict. Not every dude with a porn fix is an addict.

Your right. No one asked me to comment. But I still did.

I never said YOU were obsessed with the topic. Many people are though.

Turn the other cheek and go away? No thanks, I’d rather try to tell you not to keep committing “Grave Sins”

It’s normal to a point. Some of these questions are just people seeking attention.

And to all people talking about “addiction”-I know first hand about drug addictions. Been through re-hab several times. Almost all of my recovering junkie friends, and more importantly, our counselors, agree that sex addiction, while it clearly does exist, is very rare. A teenager who can’t stop masturbating needs to grow up. A man who can’t stop needs to learn self control. Labeling every Joe who likes to masturbate an “Addict” cheapens the word. Big time.
