I have to say that although I have many sins masturbation is not one of them. And I am an unmarried man. I have been “clean” for many years by the grace of God. If I can do it any unmarried man can and I am sure I am not in such an exclusive club as your estimate suggests.

Agreed. While I happen to be apart of that minority as well, I have been free of the sin for nearly a year now. It can be difficult, but if you keep yourself occupied & involved in daily prayer & activities, it is a synch.

As someone earlier posted, the Church calls masturbation intrinsically and gravely disordered for good reason. Sexual purity is required whether one is a man or a woman, married, or single. This isn’t just a man thing either. Just because one believes “everyone does it”, doesn’t make it not a mortal sin. This is a sin that needs to be confessed, and can be conquered with the help of God’s grace. Remember we are temples of the Holy Spirit. These sins need to be confessed in order to be living in the state of grace, otherwise we cut ourselves off from God forever. We cannot be receiving the Holy Eucharist in the state of mortal sin. A priest can help. And, yes, this is a common sin.

This is my vulnerability, sexual sins. I was deceived by the Devil terribly in the past. Now, I have strong determination to overcome. It’s been close to a month now, and I am still going without needing it. I found that if you AVOID the temptation as much as possible, you can do it. In fact, sometimes when I am on the internet and I am being tempted to click on pictures, I see whether it becomes and problem if it does, I will just turn off the computer. It is better to not use it rather than risking to offend God.

Let me be plain and literal so you can not obfuscate:

I assert that many holy rollers who decry masturbation when others do it, themselves mastubate in their beds, in the showers and wherever else.

The thing is, disavowing it between episodes is a lot like me disavowing gluttony between pieces of chocolate cake.

Well, the OP wanted to know if flexing is masturbation or not.

Let’s put aside the question of the sinfulness of masturbation and just say that 99.999 percent of all males in their teen years or older, regularly or semi-regularly masturbate. (That is, if they’re not sexually active with a partner.)

Any male who denies this is lying.

I’m an 18 boy and I don’t masturbate. I think it’s repulsive. I’m not saying I never have, but on the rare occasions I have slipped up I went to confession immediately. I haven’t for over a year and hope to never again in my life. I’m not lying.
