Masturbation question

The atrocious sexual misconduct of the church over the centuries has taken away her credibility to speak in these matters. Scripture is silent regarding the act itself but if we want to remain obedient to Christ, we are not to be lusting after women.

It would seem to me that masturbation and lust are almost always seen together. My opinion is that it is not appropriate behavior for a christian because it is a selfish act and it is a misuse of our sexual capacity and therefore sinful.

The death of Christ on the cross removed all of our sins and the penalty of them… past present and future. He was our sin bearer and suffered horribly because of our sins. The Bible says: If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God and accept his sacrifice as full payment for your sins, you are already forgiven… forever!

This frees us up to obey him out of pure love for what he has done for us and not fear of condemnation.

WOW! Now thats a strong critical judgment to say that the Catholic Church has no authority to speak about the moral teachings on sexual ethics.
Isn’t that like calling the kettle black with no redeeming qualities for any sinner.

Its no secret that there’s sexual misconduct amongst the clergy and laity.
Why be quick to judge the entire Catholic Church?

Really?? So because I fall into a certain sin as a Christian I lose all credibility to speak against that sin? Wow. Then who can speak??

While many within Roman Catholicism, including you may speak the truth about sexuality and it’s proper place in the life of the christian. Chronic, rampant, institutional physical and sexual abuse of children at the hands of the Roman Catholic Church leaves the authorities of this religious system with zero credibility to speak on issues of sexual morality whatsoever.

What about Pope John Paul II? Was he a notorious sexual sinner? What about Pope Benedict XVI? What about Mother Teresa? Etc. etc. etc… Those are the credible voices you will want to hear, not a poor desperate priest indulging in sexual abuse. Not to mention the fact that only a tiny fraction of the clergy have repeatedly sinned that way.

But your reply helps me alot to reject the science and hold on the bibilical principles to Masturbation. I just wonder is it right for married man to masturbate while having sex with his wife?

From what I know. As long as it is used as foreplay(think it’s called mutual masturbation) leading up to “finish”** inside** the wife it is okay. However, one must be very careful because it could lead to both or one of the spouses down wrong path into seeking pleasure for themselves rather than the marital embrace God designed.
