Quick question to those who might know: when Jesus and the Apostles ate the Last Supper, did they sit in chairs at a table? Or did they eat in the Greek/Roman manner (reclining)?

More generally, what did 1st century Palestine ‘work’ like? How were their homes arranged? What were they built of? Where did they work? All of this comes to mind when I try to imagine the scenes of the mysteries when I say the Rosary.

“Daily Life in Palestine at the Time of Christ” by Henri Daniel-Rops (Henri Jules Charles Petiot); Phoenix Press, 2002, ISBN 84212 509 5. 500 pages. Translated from the 1959 French original (La vie quotidienne en Palestine au temps de Jesus) by Patrick O’Brian. There are also earlier editions (1962, 1979).

This book is Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur (1962) so should be safe to read.
