“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. It’s the first Christian church that became recognized as universal as it started to grow and spread known today as the Catholic Church. (by the way not CATHLOIC - so you’re still out :D:D)

Gabriel, you’re sounding a lot like Ron White, is that what you intend with the request to “pick me pick me”?

This is a great question, if taken word for word what it says. It’s sort of like Jesus mentioning to his followers to pick up their crosses and come follow Him. What significance does the cross have before Jesus’ Christ Himself carried the Sacred Cross (as we know it). It would seem to make no sense.

Personally, again I say: " Great question." I believe it’s in the translation. I think he is just talking about the local group of people who meet together on the Sabbath. I know that Jesus introduced His Church to Simon, but that is only when He was wanting to pass the torch to and added a surname to Simon, Kephas (aramaic for great rock), Peter (english from petras-greek for rock). Jesus’ Church began when Jesus started spreading the true word. Even if new believers were still going to the local Synagogues, they would eventually all go and meet at the same place which later could be and was someone’s home or the catacombs, virtually anywhere they would meet.

Great question-good thinking.

I was just reading the Greek version of the verse you posted Bill and the word for Church is -ekklēsiai- (ἐκκλησίαι) and that is how it was written.

This word does mean Church, but it also means **assembly **which makes sense.

We all “assemble” in a place to hear the Lords Word.
