Take a look at these passages:Mat 1: 1A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,
Perez the father of Hezron,
Hezron the father of Ram,
Acts 7: 2To this he replied: "Brothers and
fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to
our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran.
Rom 4 16Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of
Abraham. He is the father of us all.
I Cor 4: 15Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus
I became your father through the gospel.
Now, obviously the term “father” can be applied to both physical fatherhood and spiritual fatherhood.I n the OT God Himself gave Abram the new name of Abraham which means “father of many nations.” What was Jesus condemning? 1Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do,
for they do not practice what they preach.
4They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5"
Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries
a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7
they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’ **
8"But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’** for you have one Teacher, the Christ.**(“

Jesus was condemning the abuse of the titles of “teacher”, “rabbi” and “father” (not just “father”). These titles draw their meaning from God the Father and Teacher of us all. The Pharisees wanted these titles to look impressive and superior in the eyes of others. If you keep reading Mat 23 the Pharisees were corrupt hypocrites, exploiting terms like “father” to boost their pride. This is what Jesus was condemning.
