According to Matthew,Jesus said that David when hungry entered the house of God and"ate the bread of the Presence"
The Eucharist began at the last supper,so what does" the bread of the Presence mean"?

This was the presence of the Holy Spirit, who had been with the Israelites since He led them through the Wilderness in Exodus. This presence would be with them till aound the time of the Babylonian Captivity when Jeremiah removed the Ark of the Covenant from the Temple.

The “bread of presence” was the bread offered in the Temple as a part of the sacrifices of the people. It was to be eaten by the priests only. This is why when David ate it and gave it to his men in his need, it could have been looked upon as an offense, but Our Lord tells us it wasn’t because bread is made for man not man for bread. IOW, Jesus fulfills the Laws and the ordinances in his own person, in his death and resurrection.

So I see that there was a precedent in the jewish tradition or worship in regards to the using of bread and its consumption as part of the liturgies. You said only the priests
consumed the bread of Presence(with capital letters in the bible).
I did not know that .

Every Sabbath twelve fresh loaves of bread, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel, were placed on a golden table set up in the outer sanctuary (the holy place) in the Meeting Tent (later, in the Temple). (Exodus 25:30; Leviticus 24:5-9) They were a contant reminder or presence before the LORD of the twelve tribes of Israel. Once replaced, the week-old loaves were to be eaten only by the priests.

Which is very important to Matthew 12. David claimed that his “band” traveling him had been celibate, since they were on military maneuvers.

To be more specific, “military maneuvers” meant getting the heck out of dodge ahead of King Saul’s henchman.

So Jesus is placing He and his Apostles on the same level as David and his band. Of course, if that parallel is true, than the Pharisees are playing the part of Doeg (the spy) and the followers of Saul who persecuted the priests who helped David as they were chasing after David. The Pharisees are certainly playing the part of spies as they are trying to trap Jesus and The Twelve.

Yes, in setting aside the loaves, they were offered for the tribes of Israel and only the priests consumed them. In the New Covenant of the Altar, the consecrated bread and wine must be consumed by the celebrating priest even if no one else receives. Anyway, the Pharisees were trying to, once again, “catch” Jesus doing something for which they could condemn him instead of listening to his words and heeding his warnings.
