Matthew 16:18 in Holy Bible St Joseph Textbook Edition Confraternity Version

A debate happened here in the Philippines between Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) and Catholic representatives. There was a part in the debate where the Catholic representatative read “Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church” in Matthew 16:18 of the Holy Bible St Joseph Textbook Edition Confraternity Version. The Iglesia ni Cristo representative cried “deception”. They claimed that the Catholic representatives tore out the page of the book and replaced it with a page that was printed by the Catholic representatives that has the words “Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church”. The Iglesia ni Cristo representative also said he has the Confraternity Version of the bible although he did not say what was the edition of his book. Does anyone on here own Holy Bible St. Joseph Textbook Edition Confraternity Version? What can we read in Matthew 16:18 on that version and edition of the bible?

I’ve never heard of that version of the Bible, but I’m certain it doesn’t say “Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church”.

“…on this Rock I will build my Church…” is what it says. We know from Scripture that Christ’s Church is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. I would guess that the Catholic person was inferring several other passages into Mt 16:18. He isn’t wrong to do that, as long as he’s honest about what he’s doing. But he WOULD be wrong if he were directly quoting Mt 16:18 and mis-quoted it in that way.

This edition was a standard bible used in catholic schools for years. Since it is a text book for C atholic education i could certainly see a publisher doing this.

I’m wondering if the actual Bible text read that way or if it could have been a footnote on Mt. 16:18 that identified “my church” (the actual Bible text) as referring to the “Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church”.
