Matthew 17, In what city is Jesus?M

Well, i’m not sure that it says where it took place. The Transfiguration, which happened earlier in the chapter, is thought (by Catholic tradition) to have taken place on Mt. Tabor. So one could assume it took place in the Galilee area around Mt. Tabor.
 
I think my answer is in St. Mark 11.

The answer is in Jerusalem, I think.

I don’t think it’s in Jerusalem. We know that Matthew 16 took place in Caesaria Phillipi. And it seems Matthew 17 takes place at Mt. Tabor, which I understand is up in Galilee. It’s only in Matthew 19 that Jesus starts heading south toward Jerusalem.

What I wanted to know, Did Jesus ever say something abou the mountain while in Jerusalem? He does in St. Mark’s Gospel chapter 11. I think, I read it quickly or looked over it quickly.

I get back when I get more time.

Ahhhhh, I see. (I think). Although I don’t see the correlation between the Matthew 17:21 and Mark 11.

BTW, do you call me “Noteworthy” as a pun? It always tickles me when you call me that.
 
I enjoy the idea that you always help me with my basic questions. I have studied the Holy Bible for many, many years and still have trouble finding passages. There are many reasons for that. The first one is that I have too many things to do.

I would like to be able to tell you I recalled the connection, but I found the connection in my Bible’s notes.

In St. Mark 11; 15 Jesus is in Jerusalem. In St. Mark 11; 20 it says the next morning.

In St. Mark 11; 23 Jesus mentions the mountain for which I was looking. My gut said He was in Jerusalem ONE of the times that He mentioned this mountain.

I thought IT would be in Jerusalem because of Zion and the Temple. I thought it would be in Jerusalem because Jerusalem is built in or on 7 hills or mountains.

Then my mind races to Revelation where a mountian is thrown into the sea.

Is there a connection?

Well, the entire Bible is connected. Is there an important connection?

From my studies, and I am not scholar, it is a GOOD BIBLICAL SUGGESTION for the mountain that is thrown into the sea.

Oh, St. John tells us the literal meaning of the sea–peoples and nations, et cetera.

The Catholic Church clearly teaches that the Holy Bible uses symbols. Those symbols must be “translated” to their literal meaning. One cannot create one’s own meaning. I try to see where the Holy Bible tells the meaning of the symbol. St. John’s Revelation does it often–Star is angel, candlestick is church, the beginning is Jesus (I hear In the Beginning), sea is people, et cetera.

NOTEWORTHY–now you know the rest of the story. Oh, your words are noteworthy to me.

I was class clown in high school. Oh, the actual title was most humorous. Now you know why I am not a scholar.
