I have a question about Matthew 19, verse 9. How come this verse is translated differently in a Catholic Bible than it is in a Protestant Bible? For example,
NAB (Catholic):
NAB (Catholic):
KJV:I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) and marries another commits adultery.
Life Application Bible:And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Why does the Catholic Bible state that the exception is for unlawful marriages, while the Protestant translations state the exception is for adultery/fornication? Which is the better translation? Thanks!I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.
