Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today is the Feast of dear St. Joseph, husband of Mary. Because today is Sunday, however, his Feast is not celebrated liturgically. Nevertheless, St. Joseph is such a great saint that we do need to honor him in our hearts. He is the “Redemptoris Custos” (Latiin for “Guardian of the Redeemer”) as Pope St. John Paul II wrote of him. See HERE for more.

St. Joseph is also appropriately the universal Patron for the Catholic Church.

St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer and Protector of Mary and of the Church, pray for us.
Mary, protected by and loved by St. Joseph, your husband, pray for us.
Jesus, guarded so faithfully by St. Joseph, enable us to love You and Mary as Joseph did on earth and loves you Both in heaven now.

Today this feast is still celebrated in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, and Fr. Zuhlsdorf had a good blog post about St. Joseph yesterday: wdtprs.com/blog/2016/04/1-may-st-joseph-the-worker/

And here is the Litany of St. Joseph: preces-latinae.org/thesaurus/Ioseph/LitStIoeseph.html

Sancte Ioseph, ora pro nobis. :gopray2:
Dear larson,

Thanks for your reply and for the links. I was sorry that not mention was made of him at our Mass, and that was a surprise because I know our pastor has a great devotion to St. Joseph.

Of course the saints are in eternal peace and happiness. We need not worry about their feeling “slighted” by us. 🙂
