Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is good to ponder our need to offer reparation for our own sins and the sins of the world as Mary asked of the children of Fatima almost 100 years ago in 1917. Each of us needs to look seriously into our own hearts first, and then as these little children did, we need to pray the Rosary and make whatever sacrifices the Holy Spirit inspires in us, to help all who need repentance and dedication to Mary. Jesus came to us through Mary, we need to return to Him through Mary, and by the power of the Holy Spirit bring others with us.
Yesterday at our Legion of Mary mtg. I was moved by one of our Priests in Residence who comes often to our meetings. He shared with us how painful it is for him as a priest, to see the indifference and the irreverence with which people receive Holy Communion at Mass. He said more about the irreverence at Mass but I think I was particularly moved by realizing every duly ordained priest of the Catholic Church stands at the altar “in persona Christi Capitas” (in the person of Christ the Head). How it must wound the Heart of Jesus when He is received with coldness – as He revealed to St. Margaret Mary and later to St. Faustina! It is no wonder to me that Jesus requested of Sister Lucia of Fatima that there also be established in the Church reparation to Mary’s Immaculate Heart. Her heart is wounded too by irreverance and indifference committed against Her Son Jesus in His Blessed Sacrament.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, pray for us.
May the Heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised adored and loved at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. May we praise, adore and love Him in the tabernacle of our own heart. Jesus, I trust in You!
The Blessed Virgin Mary is venerated under this title following apparitions to three shepherd children — Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco — in Portugal in 1917. The message of Fatima includes a call to conversion of heart, repentance from sin and a dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially through praying the Rosary. This optional memorial is new to the USA liturgical calendar and is inscribed on May 13…
For more information on both these Feasts of Mary, see HERE…May 13 is also the feast of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament. This title was given to our Blessed Mother in May 1868 by Saint Peter Julian Eymard to honor her relationship to the Holy Eucharist and to place her before us as a model in our duties and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
