May a Catholic purchase a personal defense weapon?

I was looking into buying an extended baton. While I don’t plan on using it very often (if at all), as I don’t think I will need to, I mainly just want it because it will look nice on my shelf. Considering the fact that this baton can bring harm to someone if used violently, and the fact that I don’t really need it for self defense, would it be best to not purchase this baton? Keep in mind I really only want it for (nonviolent) hobby purposes.
