May a Catholic receive the Eucharist at a Charismatic Episcopal church?

Previously, Fr. Vincent said a Catholic should never recieve communion at a protestant service.

My question is about the Charismatic Episcopal church. I heard on Catholic Answers that they now have valid holy orders and valid communion. Could a Catholic therefore recieve communion at one of their churches? Or would they still be forbidden due to a lack of shared beliefs?

On that note, if Catholics AREN’T allowed to recieve there, why does the church not have a problem with Catholics recieving at an Orthodox service (assuming Orthodox permission)?

Thanks!
Josh

Dear Josh,

The rule would be the same as it is with the Orthodox churches. A Catholic may receive the sacraments from such churches that have valid sacraments only if there are no Catholic Churches in the area. While this is certainly the case in most of Russia, I don’t think this is likely regarding the locations of Charismatic Episcopal churches.

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
