May a person choose the readings for his/her own funeral?

You may not have noticed, but Fr. David is a priest in good standing, so his opinion carries at least as much weight as those at the other parishes you mentioned.
I agreed - but not any more either - as far as I can tell
That being said, I promise you that I can scour the Internet and find two (Roman Catholic in good standing) parishes that agree that kneeling is unnecessary,
because that’s true because it is unnecessary - you should have chosen your word and example better
two parishes that agree that Nancy Pelosi can receive Communion,
probably a few Bishops, too
and two parishes that agree that liturgical dancing is a good idea.
I can think of a Cardinal myself - not to mention many outside the USA where it is no question at all
That doesn’t provide any proof that the Church condones or approves it, does it now?
Actually it does support that claim if not prove it. More importantly, it at least doesn’t prove that the Church doesn’t condone or approve those things.

NOW

I promise you that I can scour the world and find one priest (Roman Catholic in good standing) that agrees that Extra Ecclesia Nulla Salus means exactly what Fr Feeney said it did and he was right to protest his silencing by Archbishop Cushing like he did, one priest that agrees that Archbishop Lefebvre was right to go into schism, and one priest that agrees that the removal of Edgardo Mortara from his family was a good idea. That doesn’t provide any proof that the Church condones or approves it, does it now?

(BTW I DO NOT believe Fr David holds any of those positions - the entire point it to make clear the absurdity of your prior post)

BTW the website in Chicago lists 4 Dominicans and the one in Rhode Island lists one priest…5-1 in this unscientific poll says there is leeway. 😃

I just don’t understand why you so often seem to want to say “no” - and then refuse to even consider that you might be off. I strongly suspect you are rather young, a bit full of yourself in all the things you have learned, and really want to help. But, I really don’t think you’ve got it figured out yet. I’ll pray for you; you do seem sincere. But, you need to read the law, etc., in a way to embrace the people of God…not break, bend or disregard it (I’ve seen plenty of that!), but not make it a needless barrier either.

Pax te cum.
Since you didn’t understand it the first time, I’ll repeat it.

It doesn’t matter what you found on the internet.

The Lectionary is what it is.

People can find whatever they want on the internet. It won’t change how things work in the Catholic Church.

The Church has liturgical norms, and these norms are not optional. Finding someone who disregards a law does not mean that it no longer exists–it simply means that you’ve found someone who is willing to disregard what the Church requires. There is no shortage of that on the internet—it proves absolutely nothing.

The topic at hand is selecting readings for the funeral Mass.

Those readings must come from the Lectionary, specifically from the list of readings approved for the funeral Mass—which coincide with those from the other Masses for the dead.

Your personal opinion contradicts the Catholic Church.

By all means, you can express your personal opinion, but when you tell others that no such list exists, when the Church clearly says that it does, that is simply untrue.
