Hi Deanarrca,

Just wanted to share that I know of a former Baptist minister who is now a Catholic consecrated brother and runs the website I plug in my sig line.

He also had difficulties with the way Catholics view Mary when he first joined the church. He writes about how he overcame his doubts in an essay. I thought you might find what he has to say helpful.

The May Crowning was also celebrated in conjunction with all school children in the US back in the 60’s… it was called May Day and celebrated by picking flowers for your mother and putting them into a basket and hanging it on the front door… us Catholics also went to mass and brought flowers for our blessed mother in heaven… sometimes in baskets, sometimes in a woven crown. In Catholic Schools it is usually a girl in the highest grade of the school that gets this honor… to place the crown upon the head of the statue of Mary.

In my public elementary school we celebrated May Day with the baskets and flowers and we also danced around the Maypole and there was a big celebration at school that day.
